As you all know, ROBLOX is a very popular online-MMO game. With that, the database is becoming very large with users. Many of which are either banned, inactive, or just there. These accounts serve no purpose, and continuously take up much-needed room in the data storage. But, with the increasingly large database, lag becomes more and more of a problem for all devices and all games.

I have two suggestions here to present. One is to either remove all users that have been inactive for 90 days or more, or to create more servers, based on your global location.

My first idea is simple. Remove all unused accounts that have been inactive for 90 days or more. Many inactive accounts have not been used since 2007, 2008, or 2009, which is a HUGE waste of space, as by now, they've forgotten about the user, the game, or the network, and most likely moved on with their life. These users can be terminated, because as stated earlier, the database is growing larger by the day, which is causing more slow-down issues between games.

My second idea isn't as simple or cheap, but it'll definitely be effective. Most other popular online-MMO games such as "World of Warcraft", "World of Tanks", etc. have servers based on global location. I suggest to install servers based on location in the United States (East and West), Europe, and Australia, and add an "Other" category for anywhere else in the world. You would still be able to chat with your friends and play games with them, via cross-server play, but it would divide the user-base up by location into 5 different segments. Yes, I know that there are already servers in-game, but that's more considered as a "hub" for about 10-20 players to participate in games.

One of the biggest customer complaints for ROBLOX's service is the slowness of some of the most popular games, due to the database being too large, and having too many players on the same network. With these suggestions, there will not be any space-taking users that clog the database either way.

Support the first one.

Second one, you know ROBLOX is probably cheap, so...

Please learn how databases work before posting something like this. Guess what? OH NO! You just took up space in the database with this post! OH NO! I did too!

Just stop.

90 days is somewhat reasonable. It's 3 months. If you're away from ROBLOX for a month and a half for any other reason BESIDES you're unable to play it (can't run it, won't download, etc.), then you're probably not going to get on the account. I mean, even if you take a break, you might still get on to check on it.

But, if you don't agree with 3 months, take it to double and go 6.

@the
90 days is not.
I have an old 2012 alt that I maybe use every year.
I know someone who could not play roblox for 2 years.
I know someone who came back after 6 months.

Maybe you could get benefits if your account was inactive for a year and got termed?
And all robux tix and membership back

>_> OP trying to convince people that the database is becoming bad.

The slow-down issues you so speak of has literally nothing to do with the databases on Roblox. Even if it does, I would like proof of it slowing it down. The issue with join times is because Roblox is changing the rendering system as well as networking to improve it. One main thing that can slow things down is the asset servers, even though they are extremely fast, and don't usually have issues.

@scr I totally agree with you. I believe if your account gets terminated, a full refund for robux and BC should be an option.

@sem I didn't say that the database is becoming bad. I said that they were becoming overloaded with unused users, which is slowing the network down. If you want proof, read reviews for the ROBLOX Player.

Still has nothing to do with the Database. I work with them a lot, the only issues would be peoples internet being slow, or bugs with the player.

@sema What I mean is the data storage, where they store all of the user info.

Ban people for being inactive for ninety day?
That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen

Roblox is not having problems with this

Roblox gets thousands of Robux daily, and they can buy a huge hardrive, and I mean huge (create a few more million) for just a couple hundred dollars

I know that, its called a Database. They use Microsoft SQL as far as I know, and still, its not a problem.

You know what? I officially give up. I'm only putting this as a suggestion because useless ROBLOX users are clogging up the storage. 90 days is plenty of time to get back on ROBLOX. All you have to do is LOGIN AND LOGOUT. Literally only takes 20 seconds or less. Besides, ROBLOX also has an email account (breaking news) and can give you a thirty-day advanced notice about your account being terminated within 90 days. I mean, I only check my email every so often, but no one in the world with an active email address waits more than 120 days to check their email. This would also put an end to accounts like John Doe, Jane Doe, and Admin, so that everyone would stop yapping off about them.

Adding more servers would have helped a helluva lot, because it divvies up the users by their location. This means that instead of everyone being on the same network, it can introduce a system similar to the infamous XBOX Live. Players can select servers for access to friends and stuff, and they can be a little less laggy, since it wouldn't be as cram-packed as it is now with lifeless accounts, gathering dust for 6+ years now.

But hey, the community never agrees with me. The ideas may have some flaws, but that's why I put it in S & I so it'll be smoothed out overtime. But I guess some people don't get that. So don't bother replying to this, because I'm shutting it down.

ROBLOX always tells me to post on the forums and try to avoid emails, but look where that got me? Another dead idea.

And don't say our Internet is crap, because it's fine. It's constantly updated and we've tried using the most current computers. It's all the same.

Idea 1:

Terrible idea. I'm pretty sure this doesn't result in the lag we see in games. I assume the servers or whatever are separate (as that makes logical sense), therefore not causing lag. And users come back after 90 days (I came back after 6 months due to school). In might save ROBLOX money, but I can't imagine how hard it would be deleting models users have created, and everyone who owns them. Or the games they made, etc. ROBLOX has probably already decided that its cheaper to keep the users there then spend the money on labor to remove them.

Idea 2:

Another terrible idea. All I see are more unnecessary servers being made, costing ROBLOX more money, furthermore reducing lag. Because why have 1 server of 20 people when you can have 5 of 4 people? There's the money wasted. And by the way, WoT has atrocious lag compared to ROBLOX to the point where it isn't playable, so that wasn't a great comparison to use.
