Have you ever noticed that when you enter a laggy place on ROBLOX, you walk ridiculously slow compared to everybody else and people with more powerful computers just fly past you.
Basically, the default ROBLOX walkspeed at a framerate of 30fps is not the same speed as the default ROBLOX walkspeed at a framerate of 60fps.
Yeah...um...ROBLOX, could you fix that? Some people can't always play the game at perfect 60 frames per second.

It's not server-sided...
Character movement on ROBLOX is client AND server sided. Even on FilteringEnabled places.
The problem is that the character movement is really dependent on the framerate of the client. So a person running the game at 60fps will walk twice as faster than a person running on 30fps. |

I feel you, because my game goes into a pack of short but hard freezes every now and then. (Thanks to my parents for giving me a far over-aged potato.) <- That should tell you I deal with normal lag sometimes too.
But I also dealt with when the character movement _wasn't_ dependent on that, for the same reason. When you had a "frame-clog," (Or whatever...) if you were holding a movement key at the moment it lagged or froze, you were stuck moving in that direction until the next frame, meaning you can be in one spot for frame 1 and a whole other in frame 2, or just crash into a wall or something, IDK...
This also had a bad influence on chatting. For example, if you were typing "Heyo" and were unfortunate to lag while "y" was pressed down, it would turn into "Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" or something even longer. It pretty much applies to any keys, meaning long-lasting lag could erase a whole chat with backspace.
I'm still agreeing with the thread, though, despite the above issues, because the new movement dependency kills a _lot_ of dashing-based games or roles, like The Crusher, holding the Murderer's knife, Mashables, HNS, Deathrun, any racing game, all that stuff. It even extinguishes any hopes of getting away from someone trying to practically murder you hard in a battle game, like the Blue Shell in MK, but battle game lag has far worse problems right now, too many to list.
But in general, it killed a lot more stuff than the previous did.

No.
I mean that they should fix the fact that your character walkspeed is affected by how fast your computer is (not your internet). It ruins gameplay of many places because you can't move fast enough. |

| Walkspeed has nothing to do with frame rate, you just have poor connection towards the host servers meaning that some things may not register correctly... FOR YOU |

| I agree. It's annoying when I have a bad connection and I have to go ridiculously slow to do something with the physics. However, I haven't seen this Walkspeed thing. So yeah. |

Frame rate has nothing to do with walkspeed. [x2]
However, other factors may lower your walkspeed such as serverside lag and connection issues. |

Ok, I get it...mind games!
But really this isn't a internet problem. The character movements are client first, server second. This is good when in cases where there's short internet lag so that you wouldn't freeze in place.
Currently the walkspeed's speed is highly dependent on the client's framerate (which is bad during games where you do PVP and run away from stuff or race). Speed hacking is also possible because of this. |

make it non-reliant on your computer but reliant on the server.
i used to have to play on a laptop and i walked really slow...
and 60 FPS is by all means not a perfect frame rate, and its actually quite choppy. |
