It's usually either 'ant', 'ont', 'arnt', 'aud/aw-dee' or 'ax'. How do you pronounce 'aunt'? Because I am curious. I've always pronounced it 'Ont' as in rhyming with 'Haunt' or 'Taunt'.

PurpleScheer9, I've found that about 3/4 of Americans say 'ant' instead of 'ont'.
Strange. I guess I am far to old English.

Um, Glaecium? The 'proper' pronunctiation is actually 'Ont'. 'U's are never silent. Just look at 'Gauntlet', 'Haunt' or 'Taunt'. My old English dictionary tells me everything I need to know.
