81 feels fine and I live in a city where it's 100 degrees outside every day |

House stays on 81 (lower temperature = more electricity) Car stays on 80 (lower temperature = more gas burned)
and they both feel fine to me especially the car after a few minutes |

"House stays on 81 (lower temperature = more electricity)" This is agreed, my dad NEVER lets me or my mom turn the A/C lower than 76-77 degrees at all times, and I agree with you and him
"Car stays on 80 (lower temperature = more gas burned)" Depends on the car really. All automobiles require gasoline to power up the air conditioning system but some cars use less gasoline for the A/C.
For instance, my mom's Honda Odyssey doesn't really consume that much gas for A/C or speeds exceeding 60-65 mph, but my dad's Lexus ES consumes a LOT of gas for A/C and speeds exceeding 60-65 mph AND he has to use premium unleaded fuel, which is why we only use the A/C on hot days with 100+ degree temperatures and it's not windy (otherwise we just have the window down so air comes in) |
