Norfolk City General District Court - OFFICIAL Directory [v1.3]
HOW TO READ THIS DIRECTORY: When you see, for example, “T.I.II”, it simply means “Title One, Article Two.” “T.II.I” would be “Title Two, Article One.”
[T.I.I] Table of Contents
Title I: Basic information on the division, and its impact on Norfolk as a whole. Title II: Rank descriptions and capabilities. Title III: Guidelines. Title IV: Step-by-step process of getting a case.
[T.I.II] IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
With being in an important division like the NCGDC, there are some things that need to be pinpointed here that have a MAJOR importance to Norfolk.
- There may only ever be 6 Judge’s in Norfolk. - Any proof (screenshot/ video) of Judge’s committing crime/ immaturity while on or off duty will result in their removal. - Norfolk does not have an Appeals Court, instead, if you want your case redone, you must inform the City Attorney of a spotted error of law (screenshot/ video proof required) and he/ she will then either allow it, or deny it. If allowed, the “redone” case goes to the Council, where they will give the final decision on your behalf. - There are no limits to the amount of Prosecuting Attorneys and Defense Attorneys. - The Mayor shall not have the power to alter a case, or get involved in one he/ she is not mentioned in. This goes for ANY City Official, for the matter. -No person/ individual found out to be in a Gang/ Mafia related to Norfolk may be allowed in the NCGDC. No questions asked, you will be kicked out.
[T.II.I] RANKS:
Defense Attorney: The job of a Defense Attorney is simple, yet crucial to the Defendant/ suspect’s case. A Defense Attorney is expected to know US Laws, as well as understanding of the US Constitution and Bill of Rights, since Norfolk goes off of these documents, our courts shall be dealt with by using them. Prosecution: The Prosecution, much like a Defense Attorney, helps his/ her client(s) via helping them with their case. The only thing different between the Prosecution and Defense teams, though, is that Prosecution cannot be charged/ “fined” if they lose a case, they merely lose the case.
Judge: The job of a Judge in Norfolk City General District Court is VERY important. Perhaps, maybe, even one of the most important jobs in all of Norfolk. Judges are expected to know a VAST knowledge of US Law and Government. It is crucial that a Judge is NEVER biased, and delivers a fair and just verdict, should a case be a Bench Trial.
City Attorney: The purpose/ job of the City Attorney is simple, yet very much needed within Norfolk. Whomever holds this position within the NCGDC (Norfolk City General Court) is expected to know how to deal with the division of Norfolk, as well as employ/ demote those he/ she feels are not doing their jobs to the utmost of their abilities. This rank is VERY important, and as such, is treated with high respect.
[T.II.II] POSITION CAPABILITIES:
Defense Attorney: A Defense Attorney can legally represent anyone in court whom is being sued, NOT those who wish to sue someone. A Defense Attorney can ONLY represent people in Court when their Client messages the Judge of their case to give confirmation that their Defense Attorney is, in fact, who they say he/ she is.
Prosecution: The Prosecution can legally represent anyone in Norfolk whom is in need of an Attorney to help them with their case against a suspect/ individual. The Prosecution may ONLY represent the Prosecution, and NOT the Defense. The Prosecution can only represent their client IF their client messages the Judge doing the case, to give confirmation that their Prosecuting Attorney is, in fact, who they say they are.
Judge: A Judge in Norfolk can legally organize court cases resolving a Defensive Party, and a Prosecution Party. A Judge's case can only begin when both sides of the case agree to a set-time decided upon the Judge, this step must be repeated amongst both parties until the time is a confirmed working one for everyone. A Judge can also inform the City Council/ Mayor of those who lose a case, and whether or not they need demotion or not.
City Attorney: The City Attorney is the highest position within the NCGDC, and as such, has the most power. The City Attorney is expected to keep order/ control within the division, as well as keep citizens clear on what all happens within the division. The City Attorney may remove Judges/ Defense Attorneys/ Prosecuting Attorneys if he/ she feels they have not met the goals of their position, a message with reasoning behind a demotion MUST be sent to ANYONE who is demoted by the City Attorney- no questions asked. The City Attorney may also represent the City of Norfolk as a whole as an Attorney, should anyone sue a division for anything.
[T.II.III] HOW TO BECOME A CERTAIN RANK:
Defense Attorney: To become a Defense Attorney, one must know how the NCGDC works, as in, how our system of court is conducted. Once he/ she has a knowledge of how cases are done in Norfolk, they can begin studying US Law as well as important documents, such as the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Any Middle Class Citizen and above may join to become a Defense Attorney.
Prosecution: To become a Prosecuting Attorney, one must know how the NCGDC works, and know US Law as well as its important documents. Since this position also derives on helping someone with their case against someone else, a Prosecuting Attorney should know how to cope with claims and manage around them to assist their client with their case in anyway. The City Attorney may host interviews for this position, but the easier way of obtaining it is simply messaging him/ her about your interest in the job.
Judge: A Judge in Norfolk is appointed- never elected. The City Attorney hosts interviews/ tryouts for the position, and only a couple, if not 1, will be chosen. Judge interviews/ tryouts are also only ever done when there needs to be more of them. Asking for this position via a message to the City Attorney will most likely result in you never getting it- this job is VERY crucial and important to Norfolk, and is expected to have mature, knowledged people working as it.
City Attorney: The City Attorney in Norfolk is appointed by the Mayor, or voted upon by the City Council, ONLY if they reach a supermajority. The City Attorney is expected to know not just US Law, Court and Justice, but as well as how to manage a group and its peoples that make up it. This position is not easy to obtain, and as such, is expected to be treated with respect, and maturity. The City Attorney CAN be in cases, so, one who has this rank should also be expected to know how to cope with stress via managing an entire division in court.
[T.III.I] GUIDELINES:
ALL people working for the NCGDC are expected to be mature, and productive with their jobs. This division is INCREDIBLY important to Norfolk, and as such, there should never be any immaturity/ goofing off while on-duty. People look up to the NCGDC as a last resort option to settle arguments/ disputes as well as to ensure justice to those who do wrong. We cannot be treating our job like it’s not important, and that “we’re only here for the power,” if this is ever the case, you can expect a demotion and possible exilation to be imminent. Abuse on ANY ranks part will result in a demotion by the City Attorney/ Mayor’s discretion.
[T.IV.I] PROCESS OF GETTING A CASE:
Step 1: Message a Judge about your case, who it involves, and a basic backstory to it. Step 2: Await a response (if it takes more than a day for a response, inform the City Attorney) and then deliberate a manageable time between yourself, the Defense, as well as the Judge. Step 3: Once a confirmed time has been set, you must now acquire a Prosecuting Attorney (you DO NOT need one, however, it is recommended to help you) and message your case’s Judge who it is, the Defense is also expected to do the same thing, again, they DO NOT need one, but it is strongly recommended. Step 4: Once the case date is met, you go to it, present your case, hear the Defense’s side, and await a verdict from either a Jury or the Judge (if it is a Bench Trial.) Step 5: Possible punishments are administered, and the case is dismissed.
FOREWORD:
This Directory is subject to change at any time by the City Attorney, or a supermajority vote made by the City Council. The guidelines and information within this document ARE official, and go into effect immediately.
