| People always use the insult "autism" and "autistic" when they don't even know what it is. You may believe it's for disabled people who are less than you, when they're actually more than you could ever be. It may impair the ability to communicate and interact, but that's because autistic being's brains are more advanced than anyone else's, and it functions so fast it can't process our normal day activities. People like Bill Gates and Steven Hawking are important people in our world who are autistic. Steven Hawking communicated through a machine because he had so much to say and had to say it too fast that his brain couldn't function properly. He once could tell when a star would form. They are complex at math, technology, and could overall be the next generation of important people in our world. New research is challenging the long-held belief that autism affects only those regions of the brain that control social interaction, communication, and reasoning -- suggesting, instead, that the disorder affects the entire brain. The next time you use the word "autistic", it's actually a compliment. |
