This is the thread related to suggestions, updates, and more of the upcoming large scale tactical shooter Darklight.

Darklight will feature:
~A massive, randomly generated map
~Realistic ballistics with bullet drop and scope zeroing
~Vehicles of various kinds
~Dynamic day/night cycle
~Squad system
~Full tactical inventory
~Character customization

These are just the basics, as there is far more detail to each of them but that's the basics.

Feel free to suggest gameplay mechanics, guns (please tell me some stats about them such as muzzle velocity, accuracy, weight, etc if possible), ideas for the map generation, and so on, that you would like to see in this upcoming game. I will check this forum as much as possible.

- As a player gets suppressed, a blurry decal appears over the player
obscuring their vision and making suppression effective.

- Player Momentum, so people don't play it like a twitch shooter
and easily kill people turning corners

- Like some sun ray scripts on roblox, maybe lights/lasers have to same effect


I know you may have already thought of these, but it's worth a shot.
I can't wait for the game to come out.

This game won't make it, it sounds like it won't be any fun at all if it is a massive map.

Phantom Forces still remains on the top!

Thankfully I'm not trying to compete with Phantom Forces.
The map is massive, but there will be vehicles and the guns have realistic range.

I'm taking inspiration from Arma 3 and Project Reality, both of which are quite successful.

Well, A massive map is kind of going to cause OMEGA TONS of lag which will cause a HUGE problem with people playing on lower class laptops/pc's

His "Tricks"
may just be a different way of rendering, chunk loading and etc.
Don't worry about the map size and I bet this game will be just as
fun as Phantom Forces, This game from the looks of the description,
will have x100 more content than Phantom Forces, we have
vehicles, RANDOMLY GENERATED MAPS FOR ENDLESS REPLAY ABILITIES,
Tactical team based combat, and realistic guns,

If I were to compare what this game is to Phantom Forces
then this would be the comparison:


Phantom Forces -
1. Lots of guns
2. Handful of game modes
3. Small Player count
4. Small Maps
5. No Vehicles
6. Semi-Twitch guns
7. No team work

Darklight -
1. Team Work
2. Vehicles
3. Large maps
4. Randomly generated maps
5. Realistic guns
6. Large Player count
7. 1 Gamemode (I'm guessing it a conquest/Planetside 2 lattice gamemode type)


By the way, don't judge the game just because it has a "Big Map",
maybe if you played more Open World games or went outside you would
understand it's a blessing.

Will the gamemodes be tied to a specific zone of the map?
For example, I walk into 1 area of the map, I have to set a demolition
charge on some Tech plant, or I walk into another area and it's elimination
and all reinforcements are cut and the remaining survivors capture that zone.


If you can please try to bring back the Medal Of Honer squad system/buddy system,
each squad/buddy have 1 set objective for example:

Squad 1/Buddy 1 - Destroy gates
Squad 2/Buddy 2 - Find Cashes
Squad 3/Buddy 3 - Retrieve Outpost Crates

That would be interesting.

Please keep in mind that people like me
have bad PCs (And majority of roblox, at most 65% of roblox)
I have an Intel i3 CPU and a HD3000 GPU
If the map is going to be massive + the player count added in
with all the assets in the game, it would be lag fest,
CSG can fix this so try CSGing the hell out of everything.
(You may encounter bugs like hit boxes and gaps using CSG,
keep in mind if you're going to use bullet holes they will float
on the hitbox)



Things you can do to effectively reduce lag:
1. Delete/Change useless lines of code and keep it simple and take shortcuts
2. CSG As much as you can
3. Create a chunk loading system (I saw your Infinite terrain place)
4. Have an options menu to disable particle effects like smoke and explosions
5. Limit the amount of frames in custom animations
6. Have the option to disable custom effects like shell casings, etc

Other then that, everything is great! I'm also worried about the time it will take too load the game.

@2. Can't CSG the terrain, maps are randomly generated. I can only CSG the trees and such.
@3. I've had one for a while
@4 and 6. I have an options menu for that stuff
@5. You can set how smooth animations are.

Comparing Phantom Forces to Darklight is like saying a building in construction is better than the car being made.

I (personally) think that you should not incorporate Bullet Travel Time. I really dislike it, and I feel that it adds more of an uncertainty to the game. Nevertheless, it makes it more realistic, but I think that removing that aspect from your game would yield a more "Happier" community/fan base. That could quite possibly win me over from the CoR side, but you would have to do real good. Best of luck. ;)

For the squad system, could we likely see a waypoint/marker system?
As seen in Project Reality, it is what really made the war torn
battlefield and chaotic mess organized, if you are already
developing this, try to make it easy to use for new comers.

Also for communication support,
could there be dedicated Team Speak servers?
Or Mumble?

I plan to have a decent number of systems in place to keep everything organized and easy for new players.

As for communication, I'm not sure how I would go about doing a Team Speak or Mumble server, not to mention I'm not sure whether it's against the rules of ROBLOX. If I can I will look into some good method though.

This has been bugging me lately, but will this game be community based?
Maybe specially created community maps or gamemodes,
some advantages of being a community based game is that you can easily
find bugs, buff or debuff guns, ideas and support.

It's something to really look into.

I'm confused what you mean.
The maps are randomly generated so they can't be community made, and I have know idea how someone would create a gamemode for this game.

Here are some good ways to keep the game fun and fresh:
- Massive variety of attachments
- constant flow of new weapons/items
- Map generation can generate different biomes
- Emphasis on teamwork and support
- Storyline for the game (For in depth gamers)
- Community events (special game mode triggered on a special day)

Just some ways to keep it fresh,
btw for the weapon unlock system, guns should be locked to tiers or ranks,
after being promoted to the rank required to get a certain gun, you have
to purchase it, now most FPS shooters get boring on roblox because people
unlocked all the guns, but what if.... you could craft guns together...
think about it... ENDLESS PLAYING, people will try to match and miss-match
all the guns, they will strive to collect and try all guns.

Innovation is key, remember that.

Idea:

Once smooth terrain comes out the maps should be made of that.

Random terrain generation is SUPER easy.

A lot more so now that the math.noise function is out.

don't forget, Flag Defence Kills, Squad Spawn, Near Death Kills, Crippled Effect (get shot in the leg, walk slower, in the arm, arm will move a lil as if u were aiming with a sniper and ur breathing is in the way) and all those kind of things... also, make Custom Explosions! Grenades blow stuff up so that if it touches the ground, u can see all the black earth rise from the ground and fall back again, if u know wat I mean...
