Before publishing or creating a news headline or article. All CBC Staff are encouraged to read the official rules and guidelines. The forum post will explain proper publishing format and guidelines to follow when covering news. ________________________________________________________________________________________ [OFFICIAL CBC HEADLINE FORMAT]:
The standard headline for CBC is.

When breaking news occurs the headline format should be [CBC News BREAKING - Location]:
Example: [CBC News BREAKING - Calgary]: Calgary Police in a standoff against two armed suspects inside the Bank of Montreal. ________________________________________________________________________________________ [OFFICIAL CBC ARTICLE FORMAT]:
All articles should have a short but informative title and a 5-10 sentence description of the news. Updates are to be provided during breaking news such as crime, political events, state visits, raids, etc.
All Editors must be able to verify news to insure its legitimacy and correct grammatical and format errors. ________________________________________________________________________________________ [OFFICIAL CBC NEWS COVERAGE GUIDELINES]:
In order to cover news stories in video. A Videographer MUST be present with you. Only if the events are sudden and a videographer is not available are you permitted to record the video yourself. You are not permitted to cover stories inside or near scenes of crime. Police will escort you to the press area.
All videos must start off with a brief one sentence description of the event you are covering and a summary of past things that have happened during the event and a continued verbal coverage of the scene until you have finished recording.
All reporters are permitted to take photos if they wish. Do not take photos if it is unsafe to do so (such as during crossfire or major crimes).
