Well, here's a more reliable guide for the game!
[Backstory]
The US invaded North Vietnam in early 1969 in this timeline, and destroyed the communist regime. This angered China and the USSR and sent the two sides into an arms race lasting only a few months. Most of the NATO and SEATO nations armed themselves as well. The US built up forces in North Vietnam to further exterminate the old Vietminh.
Fearing that the US was planning an invasion on Guangzhou, the Chinese, with the help of the USSR, invaded North Vietnam in February of 1970. The US was pushed from North Vietnam in less than 2 months. The ACMF (Asian Continental Military Force) and the US reached a stalemate over the border between North and South Vietnam in April of 1970. The US, fearing another stalemate with the Chinese like in the Korean War, built up one of the largest invasion forces it's ever built along the border of South Vietnam.
The North Vietnam relinquished its independence to the ACMF in exchange for insurance of survival. Fearing the US proximity to China's new borders, and the extreme surge of American troops, Russia launched two nuclear missiles at two US bases along the North-South Vietnamese border in June of 1971.
The US, outraged by the willingness of the ACMF to use nuclear arms, launched five missiles at ACMF bases in North Vietnam. Angered by the death of hundreds of thousands of soldiers and citizens, the ACMF launched all of its missiles at the US mainland. The US picked up the missile on radar, and fired all of its missiles at China and Russia.
[Locations]
The Slump: The seismic activity from the absolutely insane amount of missiles that hit New York City caused a few slumps in the sewers. You can't quite access the surface from here, but you can come pretty close.
Overview: A waterfall overlooking Central Town.
Subzone USS Ascending: The USS Ascending, nearly ready to join the 17th fleet in the Gulf of Vietnam, never quite made it to completion. It sits there, in its hangar, a reminder of the absolute power of the old world militaries.
Subzone Crash Site: A destroyed subway train lays here. Some say that a cannibal lives in this area, but not many people have returned to tell whether or not it's true.
Central Town: The largest, underground town in the Old York sewers. It's a bustling center of business for any scavengers, prospectors, bounty hunters, marketers, etc. The north side of town is a bit dangerous. Established in late 1992, and built up since.
Central Town Guard Station: A simple guard station, to stop or search incoming refugees.
Old York Wasteland: A sad strip of land, with nothing but the skeletons of a once-great center of modern civilization. Now it's all snow. Clouds and snow.
Post-war Raider Base: An almost military-grade base for raiders. The base is on the surface due to the underground's rejection of raiders and bandits. With temperatures sometimes hitting -50 Fahrenheit, the surface is no place for the faint-hearted. Some of the bandits are friendly, however. Nobody's sure how the raiders/bandits came across such superior technology. The stories say that the raiders are descendants of old US soldiers who built a high-tech base sometime in 2019, but nobody knows for sure.
Empire State Ruins: Due to its incredibly strong and bulky structure, the Empire State Building wasn't completely destroyed. The building withstood as many as 6 nuclear blasts, losing only the top 34 floors. People find it hard to believe that humanity once had the ability to build so high.
Lone Setup: Does this belong to the Central Town residents? The mutants? The raiders? Who knows.
Abandoned Mining Shack: Central Town used to use this position to mine an old subway area for materials such as precious metals. It was abandoned due to mutant attacks.
Subzone Abandoned Mineshaft: Also abandoned, it houses one of the few computers in the world capable of communicating with other computers in the US, using Arpanet. Most people who've heard of it call it the internet.

So that was the more updated guide. Hope this helped you understand the story and locations a bit better! BTW, here at ATF, we don't accept furries. |

You understand that atomic missiles detonated so close to each-other within close proximity would flatten everything? The US of A has at least 20,000 nuclear bombs and missiles ready for use, for over the years they've been made smaller. Russia also has at least that amount.
Otherwise, cool story.

| You're probably right. I should revise the story a bit so the US and ACMF don't sound so eager to destroy the world, and so that they only launched a fraction of their nukes. |

1. Global war between major factions, why it isn't going to happen. This is an unlikely situation. Resulting war between major factions of the world (China, Russia, United States, etc...) in modern times (And yes, 1969 could be considered modern era.) would ultimately result in the end of the human race. Once one faction is losing and is out of military forces it would launch it's missles at the enemy, the enemy would launch it's missles and the world as we know it would end.
But hence; the leaders of the world know this. The US only got involved with Korea and Vietnam because of their lack of missles, and the tyrany they were causing. To further back up my hypothesis the 'Tiananmen Square Incident' (The way diplomatic leaders of China put it.) was pushed aside, because the US knew China had nuclear weapons. For all you who don't know, thousands of peaceful protesters for Free Speech and Freedom of the Press in China were gunned down by their own military forces in Tiananmen Square.
2. The 'zombie' apocalypse, why it isn't going to happen, and if it could, this is how. Think about it. Once someone is dead, they are dead. Reanimation and revival of the body and brain is far beyond our science capabilities, even if the brain lacked vital processing power. And if these reanimated dead are like the ones hollywood depicts, our military would gun them down and prevent the spread of the viral infection and in the worst care scenario, drop a nuke on the infected area. I am not going to even bring up the facts about chances of accidental exposure.
Now, if we did have the science capabilities to reanimate dead, and if it did get released onto the populations of the world it would be a problem, if the reanimated dead could only spread the virus through biting. This would be a different story if the virus was airborn. If it was airborn... well... That. Would. Be. The. End.

With the effect of things like bathsalt, and a new scientific chemical, we can make a substance of which that has similar effects as bathsalt, but can spread from bite or breath...
You never know... This could save America in the nearby future... *evil grin of intelligence*

Let's make everything insanely realistic so nothing will be worth playing anymore. |

@thedestroyer115 This isn't a zombie apocalypse at all. In the ATF universe, the apocalypse came about by nuclear war. And in a freak accident afterwards, mutated populations of humans began to appear. Most mutants in this world are harmless. Only a few are mindless man-eaters. As for the nuclear exchange in the backstory, I already said that it was a bit unrealistic. I could revise the ending to make it seem a lot more realistic, but I'd have to put up a whole new forum post for that. But if you truly want a revision, here it is:
Russia then proceeded to engage the Americans in battle, alongside the Chinese.
The US, outraged by the willingness of the ACMF to use nuclear arms and then suckerpunch their forces, retreated all of its forces near Ho Chi Minh City. The US then proceeded to launch 3 nukes along the invading ACMF forces. NATO then invaded North Korea again. Back at home, the US and ACMF citizens were becoming evermore enraged by the enemy nations' brutal tactics. The US sent one of its Pacific fleets to China's coast and launched a barrage of missile and air strikes on Guangzhou.
The mission at Guangzhou was a huge success. And with the ACMF forces being pushed back in Vietnam, the fleet launched yet another airstrike on Shanghai. The Chinese government, in a state of panic due to its lack of anti-air and anti-naval weapons, sought any way possible to stop the American onslaught. With intelligence that another US fleet was readying to leave Hawaii to help the already-engaged fleet, the ACMF launched 3 ICBM's at Hawaii. The US was sent over its edge.
Nobody's quite sure how many nukes were launched that day, and the following weeks. But the real story begins after the flash. |

| hey destroyer. You just made an agenda of what not to do while making an ATF game. It's a world were men and women are made of blocks! Come on! And thank you Chad, for making an amazing game! I just wish the primaries showed on your back in the sandstorm and snowstorm. Thanks for your time and consideration! |

@chad I was merely guessing that several people if this thread ever got many views would try to add zombies to the storyline plot. Read what I said about why major factions won't declare war.

While irrelevent to the conversation at hand, I enjoyed both back stories, but the ending on the second one sent shivers down my spine (because it was so good, lol). |

I think zombies has something to be with the bible, in the bible, the End of the World says to be the revival of the undead...this being the zombies, or possessed corpses, still, maybe i am wrong...and i am not an hysteric God talker, i keep going on finding the dark history of humanity... |
