The album In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel has probably inspired me the most. I made so many friends through that album just by sitting around and listening to it and by seeing NMH in concert. I wish I could buy another ticket and make it to their last concert in this tour because this is more than likely the last tour they'll ever do. But just everything over the past year has just somehow lead back to this album.
It's crazy to say that, but all of my best friends I have now are there partially because of it. Music is an amazing thing and I'm glad it exists because life would never be as great without it.

I know they are. I'm in love with Elephant 6. It's great. Everything about it. How weird they are. How great all of the music that comes out of it is. It's simply amazing.

we must have different tastes cause I love the music tapes as much as nmh. I also like his band from the 90s called chocolate usa. their second album is excellent.
But yeah, Mary's Voice is probably the best music tapes album just cause it's the most normal thing but the rest of them are more of an experience rather than a thing you casually listen to when mowing grass.

I think the actual music is a little strange, but it's definitely musical. Julian's voice is what makes it sound very childish, but honestly, the darkness found in Mary's Voice is like the perfect type of thing for an album by them. The ones before that were too light hearted and made Julian sound like a 12 year old singing about ponies.
I'm just hoping they make another album because I think he found what he does well when he made Mary's Voice. Also, 2nd Imaginary Symphony for Cloudmaking is great, but like I said, it's one of those albums that's an experience rather than a casual listen.
