so, my winter break for school is coming up and my parents want to go to america instead of sticking out the winter (its nice in the winter, although rainy)
so, is america safer than south africa or its pretty much the same as south africa (socially) but with more development? |

Well the north is awful but the south is even worse. It's like africa a bit.

@22 all the afrikaners (like my parents and i) always carry guns in our homes due to the crime in south africa.
but, idk what texans use guns for.

ok, ik now america (socially) is going to be similar to south africa because:
there is tensions between police and citizens
racially motivated crimes
lots of people with guns in their homes
tons of private security |

| @dap the only reason why my family is going to texas instead of california is because california's climate in the summer is too similar to where i live in south africa |

Oh crap, we're feeding this "info" about out country to others? Damn...
Listen, the police and citizens get along together quite well, as far as I'm concerned, there's not a lot of tension between us and the police; just don't do anything bad and you'll be fine. Secondly, there IS racially motivated crime, but not to the point where you witness a robbery everyday, crime is still here, but pretty stable and tame. Can't really argue about the gun thing, but we don't really use it unless we go hunting or if there is an emergency, and there are loads of public areas. The only private security things are if it's related to the state, government, or a business. |

I have a friend who was attacked by a vulture when he lived in Texas. Try to avoid that.

I'm from Texas myself, There is some really interesting stuff!
I live in the DFW area, but I've gone to alot of different parts.
You should check out the space center in Houston if you go there, If your in DFW you should check out some of the cool stuff in Dallas and the Fort Worth stockyards. |

| If you want a cooler summer area, go to Canada instead, it's somewhat diferent to the US. I'd recommend anywhere south of Newfoundland. |
