Don't know about US
But in UK i see it as best to get some form of higher education before millitary. |

If you take e.g some sort of degree or whatever, once you leave millitary (which you won't know how long until you've been in it a year or so) you will have an career outside of it.
Unless pilots, in which you could transition to piloting. |

| It is a dumb idea to enlist unless you are going to get a degree from the military academy tuition free. |

my friends brother is going through rotc.
if theres another world war, ill sign up for the marines. |
