The distance between the earth and the sun varies by about 6 billion meters throughout the year and the temperature effects are hardly measurable. -.-
In fact, if you live in the northern hemisphere, the earth is the closest to the sun in the middle of winter and the farthest from the sun in the middle of summer.

We're in an orbit around the sun. We're not moving "towards" it, we're falling around it. |

| the earth slingshots away from the sun due to the rotation being slightly elliptical. the inertia of the earth negates the gravitational pull. |

No we're not. The earth's getting hotter because of greenhouse gas emissions. We're in an orbit. We can't get closer or farther away in the orbit unless something pushes us. |

the earth is getting hotter because we're taking potential energy stored in oil and stuff like that and turning it into kinetic energy it has nothing to do with greenhouse gasses, or at least not much |

No, you're just some insane delusional dingbat who repeats random tidbits you heard from the grapevine as absolute truth.

I guess it doesnt matter if global warming is real, we already screwed the earth over because the icecaps have melted past no return. So sealevels are deffinatly going to rise. And millions of people will have to be relocated from coastal cities if they arent able to get some sort of protection.
wait what. sorry i got carried away. |

Global warming is a demonstrable fact. Also, the more we drive it the worse its ultimate effects will be. A lot of scientists do think we're past the point of no return, but we can still minimize the damage to come if we start working to stop it now. |
