Let's look at every one of his big transactions since he came to power in 2009.
July 29, 2009: Traded Jason Knapp, Carlos Carrasco, Jason Donald and Lou Marson to the Cleveland Indians. Received Ben Francisco and Cliff Lee.
Carlos Corrasco was the only player that he traded away that has shown success in the majors, but not close to what was expected by the Indians. Cliff Lee would help the Phillies go to the World Series where they would lose.
December 16, 2009: Traded Travis d'Arnaud, Kyle Drabek and Michael Taylor to the Toronto Blue Jays. Received Roy Halladay and cash. Then traded Cliff Lee to the Seattle Mariners. Received Tyson Gillies, Phillippe Aumont and J.C. Ramirez.
Amaro Jr traded his then ace for another ace, but ended up getting nothing from the prospects delt in the deal. While d'Arnaud has been traded and is now on the rival Mets.
July 29, 2010: Traded Anthony Gose, J.A. Happ and Jonathan Villar to the Houston Astros. Received Roy Oswalt.
Stock loading the rotation even more Amaro Jr acquires a year and a half of good pitching by Oswalt. He wouldn't have needed to make this trade if they didn't trade Cliff Lee in the first place.
December 15, 2010: Signed Cliff Lee as a free agent.
It's him again! It's the 4 headed monster that didn't do anything in the playoffs!
July 29, 2011: Traded a player to be named later, Jarred Cosart, Jon Singleton and Josh Zeid to the Houston Astros. Received Hunter Pence and cash. The Philadelphia Phillies sent Domingo Santana to the Houston Astros to complete the trade.
Good solid player that Amaro Jr and the Phillies got! You only traded a solid starter in Cosart, and a powerful first baseman that would've started over Ryan Howard in Singleton.
November 14, 2011: Signed Jonathan Papelbon as a free agent.
THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY FOR A GUY WHO ONLY PITCHES 1 INNING!
July 31, 2012: Traded Shane Victorino to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Received a player to be named later, Josh Lindblom and Ethan Martin. The Los Angeles Dodgers sent Stefan Jarrin to the Philadelphia Phillies to complete the trade. Then traded Hunter Pence to the San Francisco Giants. Received Tommy Joseph, Seth Rosin and Nate Schierholtz.
It's fire sale time! If only these guys they traded away actually did something productive for the Phillies! Not to mention Pence ended up winning the World Series with his new team.
December 6, 2012: Traded Trevor May and Vance Worley to the Minnesota Twins. Received Ben Revere.
The worst batting title winning player in the history of baseball? I think so. Not to mention Trevor May still has great potential with the Twins.
December 9, 2012: Traded Lisalverto Bonilla and Josh Lindblom to the Texas Rangers. Received Michael Young and cash.
Michael Young was so bad for the Phillies it was sad.
January 22, 2013: Signed Delmon Young as a free agent.
Both Youngs did nothing to help the club.
Amaro Jr has done nothing of highlight since 2013 because the team has been horrible, and he has still held out on trading Papelbon, Revere, and Hamels. |

| His worst deal has to be signing Papelbon for 4 yrs/$50M, and the Phillies bullpen has still been incredibly bad. |
