No idea why Cleveland's attendance is so bad. People have speculated that it's the financial problems the city has had, but cities like Detroit, Oakland, south side of Chicago are still drawing more attendance. It can't be the ballpark because Progressive Park is quite nice, and is in a friendly sports neighborhood. It also isn't the team because the Indians have made the playoffs or contended for a spot since Terry Francona has been manager.

I don't care what they're called, I just want an mlb team that's not hours away. The blue jackets and crew have spoiled me, being basically right down the street lol.

cleveland doesn't even have a population over 400,000 anymore and is quickly declining
plus they have had hardly any success, since 2007 they've made the playoffs once and that was a loss in the wild card game
since 1998 they've made the playoffs only 4 times, only once getting past the first round

They didn't even reach 20K per game in 2013, when they did make the Wild Card game.

The Indians could be a perennial WS contender and still wouldn't be in the top half in attendance. It's a poor place for baseball.

The Indians are like MLB's minor leagues, whenever they get a good player, they trade them away.

It's funny considering Cleveland is very much a baseball city. Browns in the winter, Indians in the summer. It's been etched in their sports history.
In fact between June 12, 1995 and April 4, 2001 they sold out 455 consecutive games. |

its not THAT long where baseball attendance should change so dramatically which just makes it sort of weird. like donny said there are far worst cities and places that get more attendance.

The 2 cities with the worst attendance (Cleveland and Tampa) are also in the top 5 in oldest median age of their citizens. Not saying that necessarily has any affect, but I'm just throwing that out there.

That stat should kinda HELP Cleveland considering it's very popular to the baby boomer demographic.

Also northeast Ohio's White population has dropped over 110,000 from 2000-2010 while the minority population has increased by a total of about 47,000 from 2000-2010. Even 2010 was 5 years ago, plus Cleveland's total population is below 400,000.

I didn't want to include Detroit with the population point since it's metro area is considerably larger.
