Working title; may be subject to change.

So as a fun little distraction I've been making a survival game, but I have a twist planned for it:
Instead of surviving and making tribes with other players/etc., the goal is to make your own town of NPCs. (and perhaps other players)

Meaning you'd do things like harvest wood, get hut and farm, get a NPC farmer moved in at that hut to make food for NPCs/players, etc.
You'd also be playing with other players, though. I kind of want to add NPC soldiers as well, for obvious fun.

Keep in mind the above is really just basic survival mechanics. Food/hunger, Crafting, Foraging, Inventory. You can also place one building - a tree.


So:
What do people think of the idea: "A survival game based around making a town of NPCs to do jobs for you"? And do you have any ideas for it?

So here's the deal. It's a great game and a great concept. I like the idea of building a town and stuff, and having a community, but I have some key suggestions that would turn me towards the game, or against it. Don't make the town like a tycoon. See how much you can let players build on their own. Secondly, I don't typically like games that run all around NPC's. I DO think you habe a good enough idea to use them though, just be cautious. Lastly, you need to find a way for raidings and stuff to be more formal. Nobody likes a OP user repeadily spawn camping a newbie that's trying to get started on a game. Find a way to make it comfortable for all players. That's all. Hope I helped! :)

Question to people: How should I handle NPCs spawning? I don't really know how to handle it. I don't want people to place NPCs like a building, but I don't know how else to do it.

And by "NPC spawning" I mean getting more AI 'villagers' to come to your town.
