It is with great discomfort that I write this letter. This message is addressed, not to the people of this time, but to those that will come after. By no means, would it be debated by the sane among us that the books that speak of this time, that is, the time in and around the year 1711, will be riddled with lies. For I live in a time that no man would want to relive, remember, or catalog. I feel though, that it's important for people to know their history, else they're doomed to repeat it. And so, I write this long-winded letter so that at least one person of a future generation will know what has truly happened.
I reside in the kingdom of Sloslant. Bordering to the south is the kingdom of Dupent, to the north is Rotvia, to the east is Malank, and to the west is Vespas. Sloslant, then, is caught up in any conflict between the four kingdoms that surround us. And, currently, each of these four kingdoms are at war, and have been at war for many years. We are dragged into it merely because of our location. Our king has no interest in the petty trifles of the surrounding kingdoms. So, he has built a wall around our kingdom. Within the walls is all the cities, countryside, and such. No trade goes on between our kingdom and the others. We are entirely self-sufficient, and do not bother any of the other kingdoms, and they do not bother us. Though these walls keep us safe, they keep us contained. Many protest the walls openly, but many more do not speak out against the monarchy, for fear of the loss of life.
But, these walls are not stationary. I've seen it. Under the cover of night, large teams of builders are sent out and they expand the walls into the territory under the control of the other kingdoms. These kingdoms don't seem to notice, but slowly, ever slowly, Sloslant creeps in and steals land away from them. Children are the ones that are sent to expand the walls. Any onlookers would think these kids were merely hammering at the wall as a sign of protest, but they're in fact expanding the walls.
These walls are not our only problem. There is another issue, one whose relative greatness to the monarchy is up for debate. Whether or not this issue will remain in the time period of those who read this is not known to me, nor to anyone else. Prowling about our kingdom, and the majority of other kingdoms on all continents, are demonic beings. Monsters, straight from the depths of the fiery Zhahim! The place of endless torment and inferno is what breeds these beasts. Monsters walk amongst us. There are, of course, people trained to hunt these monsters. But at most, they keep these things at bay. I see no end to this plight in the coming years. Most cities within Sloslant have guards that defend against these creatures. And, for the most part, the creatures shy away from the cities. But what of the smaller villages? They are prey for these beings who feast upon the flesh of our men and the blood of our women!
There are, in essence, two kinds of monsters. The ones that are out in the wild and are hunted down. The ones that can be seen by all as the hellish creatures they are. The ones that are reviled and hated. And there are the monsters that reside in the highest points of society and politics. The monsters that expand into the lands belonging to others, the monsters that tax and tax and tax, the monsters that wear posh attire and look down upon all of us. Which of the two is most dangerous? Such a question cannot be answered by a mind such as my own. In fact, it is a question that cannot be answered by anyone objectively. It is a matter of opinion. Of course, I have my own opinion on the matter. But, I refrain from stating it here, for I've no interest in shaping your knowledge with my own bias.
This letter is to be buried underneath the ashes of my estate that will likely be burned at the stake by the King's men. For, I know too much, having resided at a high position in politics and retiring with no good reason. I will soon be dead, but this letter will be far enough underground to survive the burning of my home. I wish only for my knowledge to be passed on to another generation, a generation with an open mind. A generation who will look back at this dreadful point in history and not repeat my people's mistakes.
Sincerely, Vincent Hathaway, former advisor to the King.
NOTES: 1. This RP takes place in the kingdom of Sloslant, in the year 1711. 2. This RP does NOT take place on Earth. That means that the RP does NOT abide by the timeline of events that Earth has gone through. Do not assume that any and all technology that some guy had in a dream during the real life year of 1711 is in this RP. 3. The RP takes place in a cross between medieval and Victorian times. Your range of clothing options is fairly large, but does not include 'jeans and a t-shirt' or similar items. 4. The main weapons available are medieval weapons. That is, swords, warhammers, axes, bows, crossbows, and the like. Guns /do/ exist to an extent, but knowledge of them is limited by the common populace. That means, you don't know what a gun is unless your character is royalty, or high up in the power chain. 5. Magic exists to an extent, and the majority of people know that it exists. Your character may not start with magical abilities, but you may obtain them over the course of the RP. 6. You can't create items out of nothing. You'd think that's obvious, but apparently not. This is an ISRP. You give me an action, I give you an outcome. Don't say something like 'I pick up the Magical Fire-Sword that turns me into a master swordsman and also maybe the Messiah.' You cannot pick up or interact with things that aren't there. 7. The wall around Sloslant was built in 1701. Your character was able to travel outside of Sloslant before that time. In the year 1701, your character MUST be in Sloslant. This information is only really important if you plan on writing a good and detailed biography. But let's be honest with ourselves, you're probably not going to do that because who cares about creating interesting character backstories? 8. I'm fairly certain that the attention span of the entirety of the RP forum is vastly limited unless the word 'OOC' or a flame war is in the general area. As a result, you may choose to skip all exposition by saying you would like to in the CS. This means, you'll be thrown right into an action sequence that would make sense with your character's biography/occupation. From there, you're thrown right into a plotline without any introduction to characters. If your attention-span and patient is greater than that of the average 12-year-old, I recommend you do not skip exposition, as it introduces the world and characters that are key to YOUR personal story. Still, the option is there. 9. Occupations include a wide variety of things, from farmer to factory worker to monster hunter, etc. I'll tell you if your occupation wouldn't work in this universe.

Name: Draiu [Long A, 'iu' pronounced as long U] Age: 25 Gender: M Appearance [Physical and Clothing]: Blonde hair, blue eyes. Stands about 6'2". Appears to weigh in at about 120 or so pounds, give or take about 5. Has a scar above his right eye, extending around the eye and stops about the cheekbone. The eye itself is blind. Current Occupation: Horse Breeder Biography Born into the peasant population, Draiu's parents managed to scrape by with their horse breeding business. Draiu had two siblings; two sisters. There, now I am not a horse breeder, but a horseshoer.
Its hard trying to stray away from the regular "o im a blacksmith" "o im but a simple merchant" etc. |

Name: James Greene Age: 38 Gender: M Appearance [Physical and Clothing]: Caucasian, 6'1", Athletic Build. Straw-Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes. Sharp jaw and chin, and similarly sharp nose, otherwise soft features and thin lips. Hair sweeps forward then cowlicks. Has a rather unkempt, though short beard. Pronounced laugh-lines and faint lines under the eyes. Wears the city watch uniform most of the day, naturally. When he's not working though, he tends to prefer long coats. Current Occupation: City Watch Sergeant Biography: A veteran of a war, though recent, that no one has thought about since it was waged twenty-odd years ago, James has since been solemn, withdrawn, and irritable at times. Soft spot for children though, lord knows why. When he returned, the part of him he lost to the war just wouldn't be content to sit in a shop and work wood. Seeking some even minute sense of purpose, he joined the City Watch, where, through cold-hearted diligence, he became a Sergeant, and spends most of his day behind a desk dealing in dispatches. | Declined. Your character sheet name and appearance is a literal copy-and-paste of your character sheet from the other ISRP I made, with about five words changed out and everything else kept exactly the same. |

Yes I use this character a lot, though the appearance isn't an exact copy, it's been aged up with a beard and laughlines etc.
Don't see how that's a real problem. I can change the name but as for the appearance, that's how I want my character to look. That's that, honestly. |

It's a problem because it's lazy, cheap, and outright stupid. Using the same character for your RPs goes hand-in-hand with that character being a terrible self-insert. Even if it isn't a self-insert it's still trite and terrible. Also, adding 'a beard and laughlines' doesn't make it any better.
Maybe, just maybe I'd be able to forgive you using the same character over and over again if your appearance was detailed and written in complete sentences instead of being little fragments typically employed by 1st graders.
If you're not going to put in the work to create a character, I'm not going to put in the work to make an ISRP for you. Go play Mad Libs or something, that doesn't require you to do much writing or work. |

| You're willing to change two words which are your character's name, that's hardly working it out. I'm not going to make a thread for you, you will remain declined. |
