No, I'm not even joking. I won't post the links here, but a quick google search should show you articles about it.

@Mod
It isn't just the U.S, it's pretty much everywhere. Countries like Australia, France and the UK are also becoming increasingly like a police state.

no, it's not.
"Whoever knowingly alters, destroys, mutilates, conceals, covers up, falsifies, or makes a false entry in any record, document, or tangible object with the intent to impede, obstruct, or influence the investigation or proper administration of any matter within the jurisdiction of any department or agency of the United States or any case filed under title 11, or in relation to or contemplation of any such matter or case, shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both."
this law only enacts when you are a) in a current legal/criminal investigation and b) intending on destroying evidence regarding to the aforementioned investigation. |

Idiot. You don't know your rights.
When did they stop teaching the constitutional rights in US schools? |

you are completely allowed to be anonymous, of course. the law doesn't target that AT ALL. if you are under investigation, which means the police likely already obtained a search warrant on your property, then deleting criminalizing evidence from something they have constitutionally got the approval to search is banned.
this has nothing at all to do with being or remaining anonymous. you can still delete your browser history. this only applies if you are in a current criminal investigation. |
