Except any CPU in the last 10 years has an auto shutdown system that triggers at a certain temperature, usually being at 77c to prevent melting or any form of damage, and then the mobo melts at something like 130c, so no damage was actually done
op is a big fat phony :)
furthermore though, you should punch your old man for being bad with thermal. |

you...idle...at...77?
oh my god you poor poor soul
unless you are on a laptop, in which 77 isn't too bad, but still dangerous.
laptops will cut off at 105 |

| I didn't ask him to do it for me qq, but I'm worried it burnt out the CPU, because I was just, "Hmm, I wonder why my computer is being so slow. I'll check on my core frequencies." So I open up my motherboard's sensoring soft wear and just. "Oh. That's... That's pretty hot there." |

| Stock Intel fans on an i7 that I'm overclocking, oops. If it had fresh thermal on it, it wouldn't run as hot as 77 idle, and now it has too much on it so oops. |

It should be fine, worst it's gonna do is cut its functioning lifespan by a few years.
That sounds bad, but it's not so, CPU's last freaking ages and you'll probably have chucked out it long before it even begins to show any form of wear.
doesn't mean it won't spontaneously fail though.

| The pinewood core melts at 3000c. I don't get why you're all worried. |

Yeah, I don't understand why intel ship their i7's with stocks.
Even their high end ones come with stocks if you don't buy them on tray.
You should absolutely invest in a heatsink tower, you can put 2 120mm fans on and it'll knock the temp down a huge chunk.

I cry when I think about Intel stock fans. Been looking into getting a Cooler Master Hyper 212 heat pipe tower.

I had one of them cooling a core 2 extreme QX6700 with temps around 40c and about 50 on load.
Nowadays I use a Corsair h100i to cool my CPU and it's borderline arctic temperatures even on full load. It idles at around 25c
