to professional baseball
what it looks like right now:
catcher:
salvador perez (.287 OBP with a .313 wOBA,100 wRC+, and 0.8 WAR) [kansas city]
1B:
miguel cabrera (.430 OBP with a .419 wOBA, 173 wRC+, and 2.3 WAR) [detroit]
2B:
jose altuve (.344 OBP with a .323 wOBA, 108 wRC+, and 1.5 WAR) [houston]
3B:
mike moustakas (.368 OBP with a .363 wOBA, 135 wRC+, and 1.9 WAR) [kansas city]
SS:
alcides escobar (.297 OBP with a .288 wOBA, 82 wRC+, and 0.8 WAR) [kansas city]
OF:
lorenzo cain (.331 OBP with a .325 wOBA, 109 wRC+, and 2.1 WAR) [kansas city] mike trout (.375 OBP with a .389 wOBA, 159 wRC+, and 3.1 WAR) [anaheim] alex gordon (.364 OBP with a .349 wOBA, 125 wRC+, and 1.8 WAR) [kansas city]
this is a JOKE
clearly there are players worthy of the all star game that are being voted in, obviously such as cabrera and trout of whom are having tremendous seasons, but the fact that the large majority of players being voted in are just so plainly average (slightly above average at BEST for most) is just embarrassing to professional baseballl
when "average" becomes the definition for being eligible to be voted into the ASG, the game itself has lost all of its meaning
i mean COME. ON. salvador perez is having a below average season and has a NEGATIVE oWAR, jose altuve is having an average season along with lorenzo cain, moustakas is having a good season but not nearly as good as josh donaldson, gordon is good but not as good as michael brantley, and alcides escobar is one of the worst shortstops in the LEAGUE
here is what the all star vote SHOULD look like:
catcher:
stephen vogt (.395 OBP with a .401 wOBA, 166 wRC+, and 2.4 WAR) [oakland]
1B:
miguel cabrera (.430 OBP with a .419 wOBA, 173 wRC+, and 2.3 WAR) [detroit]
2B:
jason kipnis (.411 OBP with a .396 wOBA, 162 wRC+, and 3.5 WAR) [cleveland]
3B:
josh donaldson (.364 OBP with a .402 wOBA, 160 wRC+, and a 3.4 WAR) [toronto]
SS:
jose iglesias (.388 OBP with a .356 wOBA, 129 wRC+, and a 1.7 WAR) [detroit]
OF:
jose bautista (.386 OBP with a .383 wOBA, 147 wRC+, and a 1.6 WAR) [toronto] mike trout (.375 OBP with a .389 wOBA, 159 wRC+, and 3.1 WAR) [anaheim] michael brantley (.384 OBP with a .366 wOBA, 141 wRC+, and 1.4 WAR) [cleveland]
as you can see in the real life all star vote, the royals have >FIVE< starters currently at the top of the vote
they shouldn't even have ONE
the all star vote is such a joke and it needs to be removed and replaced with people who can actually correctly judge and analyze statistics so that being an "all star" MEANS SOMETHING
it's evident the royals fans are just stuffing the ballot with their garbage players and there simply aren't enough fans of teams such as cleveland, oakland, and toronto to vote reputable players in
anyway that's my all star rant

let's look at his stats vs kipnis
jason kipnis (.411 OBP with a .396 wOBA, 162 wRC+, and 3.5 WAR) dustin pedroia (.375 OBP with a .365 wOBA, 134 wRC+, and 1.8 WAR)
pedroia is having a great season but not as good as kipnis
dustin should be an all star but not a starter

because you listed no reasons as to why you don't agree, you didn't read the post, and you didn't even list WHAT OPINIONS you were even talking about
you clearly just post just to get your post count up

they aren't
and it's really a shame you use "RBI" to judge him when he is in fact having a tremendous season
mark teixera (.355 OBP with a .389 wOBA, 152 wRC+, and a 1.6 WAR)
absolutely great year, just not as good as miggy and mark should be in as bench

Escobar shouldn't be in it, not with a .297 OBP

escobar is one of the worst shortstops in the league right now and the fact that HE is going to be a STARTING ALL STAR is such a joke

if Iglesias hadn't been out for a little while with an injury, he'd probably be at the top

iglesias has played more games than escobar
it's just the dumbass KC voters who flood the vote

Nelson Cruz will be voted in as DH. Ramirez has little to no chance. |

>think nelson cruz or hanley Ramirez could get in allstar game either as a start or on bench?
oh my god yes
nelson cruz should actually be starting over michael brantley
nelson cruz (.382 OBP with a .424 wOBA, 182 wRC+, and 2.0 WAR)
those are just ridiculous
hanley on the othetr hand
hanley ramirez (.315 OBP with a .343 wOBA, 118 wRC+, and -0.5 WAR)
he could be bench after iglesias but i don't like his WAR and his defense is a JOKE
