| Not too bad. Unless you're a social outcast and find difficulty keeping up with grades and getting those credits. |

you will be expected to be much more mature since you're in high school
you will be given more homework / do more work
don't act like you're "all that" just because you're in high school
you wont have as much free time as you did in middle school

I barely had freetime in Middle School.
so I don't think 9th grade will make any difference.
Although I expect the math assignments to make me cry loudly instead of quietly.

Most of my free time taken away from me in my first two years were extra curriculars.
But every school is different I guess. |

with work and stuff its easy as hell as long as you do your work
for me at least it was great socially, made a lot of friends
make sure you get involved with something afterschool, whether its football or drama or a/v, anything |

The Imaginary Social Pyramid hates me rn so I think I don't have to worry about popularity until... never.
Popularity is useless after 11th grade. But useful in 6th for some reason.

It was a blast for me Get involved but don't let extracurriculars get in the way of necessary work. Find one or two clubs or sports teams that you like and make some friends there. Still, know when you have to skip this week's film club meeting because you have to finish a history project. Try to make a good amount of friends but don't spread yourself too thin. And if you learn nothing else from this post, don't put off your work until the last minute unless you work REALLY well in a deadline induced panic.

I thought about joining football
you're right about spreading myself too thin (never again)
I can work in a deadline induced panic if it's English, Latin, or Math. Any other subject I work really badly.

And yeah you should really get involved. Colleges love that if you're looking to get into one.
I'm a student aide next year and going into my third year of JROTC, plus some AP classes. Also take honors classes as they help with your class rank.
You'll be fine I promise. |

Yeah, honors and AP classes really help out. The weight from honors classes edged me into the top 10% of the class. Barely, though, 17 out of 178

Honors is a bad idea for me. Too much homework and way too many tests.
Plus the other option (Scholars, can't even join it now) is heavily focused on handwriting and other bits of English.
I'll just get A+'s in all of my Regular classes and pass high school with all A+'s.

It's definitely not bad, IIRC that's still First Honors I ended with 4.12 but all my classes that could be honors were honors because the regular classes were kind of boring

| i'm not gonna lie op you got a tough year ahead of you, probably the worst you'll ever have. the classes are gonna get harder, the assignments are gonna pile on, and don't even think abut playing video games. and because you're a freshman, the bullies are gonna get you. they'll steal your stuff, knock your books down, and you might even get punched once or twice if you're really unlucky. and then there's peer pressure from your friends to drink and smoke and they'll probably even talk about all those parties that tbh you're not gonna get invited to. the teachers suck, your friends will ditch you, and you're gonna be a lone wolf for the next four years. good luck buddy |
