This is a very small sample size but it's kinda fun.
Giancarlo Stanton with nobody on base: .221/.325/.596 in 104 at bats. Giancarlo Stnaton with runners in scoring position: .316/.400/.544 in 57 at bats.
12 of his 18 home runs are solo shots.
I personally believe that he is thinking long ball when bases empty, and then just squaring up for nice contact to drive in runs when runners in scoring position. |

| I guess this is why he leads the majors in RBIs even though he's batting .236 for the year. |

| Yeah, you don't have to be thinking 3 run home-run with 2 outs, just a base hit into the outfield. |

no he leads the majors in "RBI" because he bats in the middle of the lineup and has more opportunities to get hits with runners on base

but he doesn't have more opportunities...
Matt Kemp, Ryan Zimmerman, Billy Butler, Starlin Castro, Ian Kinsler, Martin Prado, Wilmer Flores, Starling Marte, Nelson Cruz, Brandon Moss and, Elvis Andrus have more at bats with runners in scoring position.
Lol Wilmer Flores only has 18 RBIs from 59 at bats in that situation. |

and so what? the thing is that if ass jones batting 2nd didnt't get a double before stanton got his fatass up to the plate than he wouldn't have gotten a "RBI"

| then Stanton would probably try to hit for home run, and get only 1 RBI. |

| If RBI's weren't relevant nobody would keep track of them or talk about them so much. |

no he would've gotten the same exact hit but he wouldn't have gotten a rbi

no actually RBI are completely irrelevant and the only ones that do care about it have no idea what they're talking about and need to educate themselves on how stats in baseball actually work

yeah anyone that thinks RBI is a relevant statistic whatsoever in any circumstance should never ever be considered an "analyst"

If nobody would drive a guy in, then we'd have a lot of shutouts. lol
Pitchers are too good for people to walk in runs every game. |

| I'd just like to know why you think it shouldn't be considered a stat throughout the course of the season, obviously you can't take away the fact it is a thing in the majors or you wouldn't have any way of scoring runs on the sheets or the field, but why should no one care about it? |

no what the hell are you talking about
there would still be runs on the board without the "RBI" there would just be (and ARE) better statistics to measure the value of the player

| Like what kind've stats? When there's a runner on 1st and the batter at the plate hits a double and the runner scores what would you score/call it as? a "runner batted in"... Why change what it is? |

Hmm should I try to hit a single and Only get the guy on first to second or should I try to get a double that gets me an rbi?
Eh rbi's don't mean anything, I'll just go for a single. |

| I mean doesn't "3-4 with 2 HR, 6 RBI" sound better then "2-5 with 2 singles and advancing a runner from third to home in the 4th" |

| Would you say the "runs" stat is useless too? |
