I figured I'd make a thread to clear up misconceptions, grammatical errors, and unnecessary bits. So here it is: V7.
-An Introduction-
Tulpamancy is the practice of creating sentient beings in your mind via indirect commands sent to your brain. But why create one? There are a few reasons: 1. Companionship. Tulpae can understand you better than anyone else because- well, they literally are you in a sense. 2. "Jailbreaking" the mind. Tulpae can easily parallel process with enough practice, as well as predicting time, bringing back memories, and increasing the power of your mind's eye. 3. The thrill of knowing what can be done with the human brain. Many people have done it simply to know what it is like and see for themselves if it actually works. And so reasons of loneliness, wishes to improve themselves, and curiosity of the mind's inter-workings are what makes up most of the community, though there are some other reasons people have made theirs.
-Q&A-
Q: "Self induced schizophrenia?" A: No. While it is the same kind of effect, Schizophrenia is from birth and often the "tulpa" in that state is hostile, though there have been communities of schizophrenics that do the same practices as tulpamancy, finding ways of making them less hostile.
Q: "How can I create one?" A: There are plenty of guides at tulpa(dot)info, as well as many neat helpful tips & tricks.
-Jargon/Dictionary- -Servitor: An imaginary friend, usually used as the base of a tulpa. -Tulpa: A sentient being created by a host. -Tulpamancer/Host: The person who has created a tulpa. -Imposition: Strengthening your mind's eye to a point that you can make things appear in your vision as if they were real, allowing you to visualize your tulpa in real life. -Possession: Temporarily controlling of a body part by a Tulpa. -Switching: Whilst it is the topic of much debate and has yet to be confirmed, you will probably hear quite a bit about it on other sites. The idea is to completely swap the dominance between Tulpa and Host, allowing them to control you. -Fede's Tones: Again, a debatable topic, though generally disapproved by the community. A binaural "tone" that supposedly helps with forcing. This, along with orange juice, are considered cliche placebos by most.

| I think I'll get one when I'm old and alone so that I don't wreck my brain cells. |

>wreck my brain cells It doesn't cause any damage as far as I know. My intelligence still exceeds that of most my age. And like I said, as soon as you get good at tulpamancy it pays itself back. |
