If you haven't seen the Google Cardboard yet, you should look into it.
It's a virtually reality headset designed by Google (although sold by third parties) and only costs about $20. It uses your phone as the bases of it.
The most popular distributer of them is I AM CARDBOARD. But I ordered mine from EightOnes because there's costs the same as I AM CARDBOARD's yet it comes with much more, including a headstrap.
These things work with tons of Android apps. They also can be plugged into a PC and used with Oculus Rift software. You can play Minecraft in virtual reality with it by plugging your phone into your PC.
If you don't want one made of cardboard, there are plastic third party designs like the ColorCross vr headset, although they cost a bit more.
I just ordered mine today and I will write a review on OT of the quality of it once I get it. I have tried the best already, the Oculus Rift DK2. So I can compare it to that.

I'm assuming it's not compatible with Apple devices...qq
And when I first read the title, I thought Google was literally selling cardboard.

@Aveeo
Well it is made of mostly cardboard, so in a sense they are literally selling cardboard. :P
And I've heard that it works with some iPhones, a lot of people say it works with the iPhone 5S pretty well.
Although Apple stuff is usually slower to get support, so you probably won't see nearly as many apps developed for it. And since Apple devices are really restrictive, you probably won't be able to stream games from your PC to your phone either.
There are some stuff for iPhones. I've seen some 3D roller coaster apps and stuff that uses it.
You can still get some use out of it if you have an iPhone. Maybe even more in the future. |

@RED
You lost hope in Google because they massively innovated consumer virtual reality products?
Seriously, I cannot understand how you could possibly reach such an idiotic conclusion.
@ron
It's made for Android, not iPhones. Hence ->Google<- Cardboard.
@xXx
Yes it does. I've heard the magnet doesn't work, but the magnet isn't needed to use GC. The virtual reality experience I've read works just fine on the X3.

I've had a ColorCross before. That thing didn't even get me immersed.
This VR Headset called FiiT is supposed to arrive for me tomorrow. I've been searching and found it does have good quality lenses, supposedly 102 FOV. Original price is 37$, but I got it for 13$ even though the list price was 20$, he was having a sale that day. |
