(WARNING: Before I begin, be warned that i'm merely stating my opinion. No hateful comments.)
Ok, I really need to get this off my chest... I feel this thing has potential.
The "Group Creations" tab in the develop section for group owners feels like a terrific alternative to posting ads, making proper group places, and sharing models and decals for negotiations, propaganda, mass production, whatever. It's a nearly flawless idea to be honest, and considering I've seen a lot of ideas in the past by ROBLOX that i wasn't exactly "too happy" about, this is a nice step in a new direction for NBC players who may own groups.
My only issue comes with the audio section, and one minor detail with the groups.
In the audio section of the Group Creations tab, there is the option to make music for your group, which is terrific for all kinds of groups, ranging from layed back groups, to roleplay-esc groups, to even ro-nations or military groups. Audio is a key role in making any game more immersive in my opinion, and having the option to use your funds to make soundtrack pieces for your group places seems like a fantastic idea...
ONLY ISSUE IS: YOU CAN'T.
See, here's the issue.
ROBLOX is trying to put more of a use towards groups with this update, which I like. I've always been a huge group person, having once ran a Mercenary Ro-Nation on ROBLOX before by the following name "-[Outer Heaven]-", which was a Metal Gear-inspired group that focused on guerrilla tactics, close quarters combat, and stealth.
So OF COURSE, i'm fully on board with the idea of using group funds to pay for audio and such for your group and its places. Only issue is that there ISN'T a function to pay for the audio with group funds with ANYTHING in develop (Aside from Ads).
Everything (At the moment this topic was posted) is payed out of pocket.
Kinda kills the point of making a "Group Creations" section in develop, am I right?
Now granted, I did say at the beginning of this post "I feel this thing has potential". That means i'm still 100% on board with this idea. However, this topic is about "NOW", and having to pay out of pocket for a group that may already have a ton of stored funds, waiting to be spent on other things aside from advertisements, is completely insane!!!
You can't even spend Robux for Advertisements anymore! Why waste all those funds in Robux and let them sit there in "Minus World" for all eternity, when the developers and programmers of ROBLOX could actually make use of all those extra, wasted cash and make something useful out of it.
BUT HERE'S THE KICKER.
I already know a solution that would settle this whole issue anyways if added. The only problem is that no ones doing anything about it, or taking any action to fix this issue.
The only way, THE ONLY WAY, that I feel that can be a substitution for this whole "Group Creations" issue's solution would be to allow "Group Trade Currency" and "Owner to Group Funds Transactions".
For the first half of this system, it would allow for the owner of a group to change Robux into Tix inside group funds, and be able to do it the other way around. The second half to this would be to create a way for group owners to be able to take funds from groups, and place them in their own pocket, and be able to do it backwards with their own money being inserted into group funds as well.
This would be a simple system, and would probably stabilize how money works on ROBLOX. Not to mention it would even ENCOURAGE PLAYERS to go out and buy ROBLOX cards from their local "BUY SOMETHIN'" (or whatever store people get ROBLOX cards from) so they can continue filling up their group funds on the ROBLOX site using before mentioned cards, thus increasing the amount of money being spent on ROBLOX products in the real world.
This way, everybody wins.
Anyways, i'd like to hear everyone's opinion on this.
This entire issue has me just completely bothered, and I just can't wait to see what everyone else has to think about this topic. Whether this issue gets fixed or not, at least this thread should spark some interest and get some people thinking towards ROBLOX and the future.

Hm yeah group funds NOT being able to be used IS a pain in the tookus. An Oversight if u ask me. But as a group owner myself alot of these new functions arnt exactly "Noob Friendly" I prefer things to be simple, this is far from simple.
and with the upcoming "MULTI USER STUDIO ACCESS" Thing they got coming, They REALLY NEED to make things more simplisitic, as ya know, Not all of us are SCRIPTER levels of know how. |

I agree with this, Group Funds should be used on something other than ADs. I know a lot of groups probably have loads of funds and don't really have anything to spend it on, this idea has a lot of potential in my opinion.

(God, it feels odd to add a reply to my own post. XD)
I can see your point Flair, but as wild says, it'd be nice to still make use of it all. (Not to mention its not "Script-Level" hard. It doesn't require having to know a comp. language.)
Whats "hard" about it is just learning to adjust to changes.
OF COURSE its going to feel like a pain in the butt for veteran ROBLOX players that have been around since 2006-2010 that are used to how group settings function, but its all a matter of just learning to adjust with the times, no?
Any newcomers to ROBLOX would just transition faster with the updates due to having less experience with it, making it more easy to adjust. It's not that its "hard", when in reality, it's all just "mental hard-wiring" and "learning to adapt" that makes it feel harder. |

@burn. Actually I wasnt used to group controls even Back THEN. The fan group dont count cuz I didnt make that and had no overall control. and Frankly it seems ya dotn know the rigged system education is where im at. watever they tell ya about college being good around here, its a half truth, ya want computing languages ya gotta fork out to go to university around here! AND THAT STUFFS EXPENSIVE!!
Seriously theres a HUGE gap in knowledge for the kinda thing needed for this kinda crud. I prefer EVERYTHING be SIMPLE. lot easier for EVERYONE in the long run. simple, easy and with NO ASUMPTIONS THAT WE KNOW WAT THE HECK DOES WAT. seriously ive seen tutorials that do the mistake of ASUMING we know whats what, which DEFEATS The point of a tutorial.
IF Shungwah aint simple, then we have a VERY serious problem. |
