INTRODUCTION: Have all CiTs in a Shoulder To Shoulder line in the allocated area, from there go on to inform them of the happenings within "DAY ONE" of their four day training procedure. Answer questions at the end.
"Welcome to Police Scotland training college,"
"Throughout the four day training procedure that you will all participate in,"
"You will be learning how we here in Scotland police our streets in both an efficient and professional manner."
"Today is DAY ONE, we shall be covering the use of both the baton and taser today,"
"We will also be completing the first of three Standard Entrance Tests to allow the service to see your levels of knowledge."
"The SET that we will be completing on this occasion will be the language one,"
"This meaning your English will be reviewed, no questions can be missed out and you'll have 30 minutes to complete and send your finished paper."
"The training will come to an end at quarter to nine, if you must leave between now and then you must contact a trainer in their spare time to catch up."
SET LANGUAGE PAPER: Ensure all of the CiTs are seated, inform them that they're under exam conditions, therefore cannot communicate with one another, once settled start a timer counting thirty minutes, when complete ring an in-game bell to inform them their time is over and immediately check you have their complete paper. If participants require help you cannot give them the answers simply assist them by perhaps asking the question in a more straight forwards manner.
TASER TRAINING: Have the CiTs in a Shoulder to Shoulder line facing you, inform them of the dangers of the taser, and when it is appropriate to use it, they must be aware that they could face serious consequences if they were ever caught abusing the tool. Allow the participants to put the weapon into action, then finally examine them on their work. Answer questions at the end.
"Let's start with the basics, the taser device has a reload-able cartridge which slows down or sometimes even stops a suspect."
"You can reload the taser by pressing "R" twice, once will remove the cartridge and the second will replace it."
"The taser can be used without a cartridge, however it will not last the useful five second time period which tends to be a necessity."
"If deployed without a cartridge you must make contact with the suspect, and they will only spasm for a brief time period."
"The tasers are designed for self defense purposes, however can be used in a pursuit of someone who you're struggling to stop,"
"At any time when the taser is deployed it is mandatory that the officer must shout "TASER TASER TASER," or "T T TASER."
"Although a self defense weapon, the taser is still dangerous, only deploy it when necessary."
"The taser also comes with a flashlight for inside houses or at night, this can be operated by pressing "Y".
"Ensure you have a legally justified reason before you fire, and do not fire if another innocent person or colleague is in danger,"
"Of being hit themselves."
"If you're ever reported to have abused your taser intensive investigations will be held, and the consequences will be harsh,"
"Take this warning into deep consideration as you do not want to be in the Chief Constable's office when you're in bother."
Show the participants an example, then allow then to practice using their verbal commands with a partner, eventually allow them to use the taser on their partners as practice which will lead to an examination soon after.
BATON TRAINING: Have the CiTs in a Shoulder to Shoulder line facing you, inform them of the dangers of the baton, and when it is appropriate to use it, they must be aware that they could face serious consequences if they were ever caught abusing the tool. Allow the participants to put the weapon into action, then finally examine them on their work. Answer questions at the end.
"The baton is a simple tool."
"We mainly use the weapon to intimidate, however it should very rarely kill someone."
"If it is appropriate you may strike a suspect with the baton by simply clicking,"
"However, be aware that the baton is a weapon which has the potential to kill someone easily."
"The baton can be used in several situations, some examples are:"
"When a suspect refuses to exit a car, you damage them slightly after several oral warning."
"When you are in danger from another melee weapon such as a knife."
"During riots."
"And in various other situation alike when someone fails to comply."
"The key weapon we here in Police Scotland use is our use of our vocal cords to communicate with suspects."
"You must first ask, then warn and then respond."
"A-W-R - Ask, warn, respond."
"If a suspect were to comply, you do not use your baton."
"Alike the rest of lethal equipment the consequences of abuse are harsh, therefore take this warning into deep consideration."
"Unlike the taser, there is no current report to be filled in if you decide to use your baton, however it is best to record names and details."
Show the participants an example and then allow them to put the baton into use with a partner. Eventually examine them.
END: Have all CiTs in a Shoulder To Shoulder line in the allocated area, from here you will conclude their progress on day one. If you feel anyone lacked the required standards keep them back after the training and tell them they must have additional training before DAY TWO of the procedure.
"I conclude from this training that the progress of (ALL/VAST MAJORITY) of you has improved after DAY ONE of training."
"I thank you all for coming here and look forwards to seeing you at DAY TWO of the four day programme."
"I thoroughly hope you enjoyed you're time, if you have anything to ask stay behind."
