Like, the forums make them absolutely no money, besides maybe the small ad revenue they get, but that's site-wide anyways. TONS of forum threads are made per day, and there's forum posts from YEARS ago saved and can still be viewed if one finds it. And, to my knowledge, they don't delete forum threads when it is X years old. So why and how do they keep the data for all these forum threads if only a small fraction of their userbase uses these forums? Am I just overestimating how much memory it would take up?
Come to think about it... how much memory DOES Roblox have? Like good god, there's SO MANY user games and assets I don't even want to begin to calculate how much space it would take up.
What I DO know... is that Roblox spends most of their income on server space. I don't know the exact statistics, but that's where good chunk of their money goes. But how much server space IS that?

| Roblox makes a lot of money now. Feels like just yesterday when all the front place games had no more than 80 people in them, and 10,000 bricks in a game was enough to lag everybody. |

Well, the only thing that actually needs to be saved is the content of the forum post. If you've ever saved a text document, those files never take up much space, even when they're composed in programs with a lot of formatting instructions.
There's no need to save the images and forum layout or anything. That's handled by a set of instructions that calls up assets as they're accessed. So yeah, it's just a bunch of text being saved. |

Yeah, I get that. I guess I'm just overestimating the amount of space TEXT actually takes up. I guess my real question was everything on ROBLOX in general.
Oh yeah, and another thing. I've heard that people say that "ROBLOX needs all the money to pay their employees" and stuff like that, but the fact of the matter is ROBLOX doesn't have all too many employees to begin with. The rest... I have no idea where it goes to, other than the massive server space. But I guess that's what makes things like DevEx possible! And hiring new, highly talented programmers, of course.
I hear that one of the ultimate dreams of this website is that it'll be SO profitable enough that everything is free to everyone. That's a big wish, but I hope we reach it one day.
