It's really good.
But if you're making an FPS, you don't want that much detail. Think about it, the average FPS has like 10 - 20 - 30 players. It would be fine with like 2 - 4 people. But with that much people the lag will be REAL. |

The detail is ok, not really what I would consider great though.

Who said StreamingEnabled can only be used on big places?
Check out the documentation on it. |

It's not that.
But StreamingEnabled doesn't fit a small world...
And I doubt it would be effective enough, since it will probably still load the entire world. |

Considering StreamingEnabled uses a grid and each cube in the grid is fairly small - it would benefit both small and large worlds.
And no - StreamingEnabled does the opposite of loading "the entire world" - even for this small map. It only loads the surrounding area.
StreamingEnabled is very effective - if you're not using it, then you're missing out. |

Streaming is hard to script with.
But it works via monitoring the client's processing power, it loads everything as long as the client can handle it, making it better than custom chunk loading systems.

Eh, for a FPS like this, I wouldn't use StreamingEnabled.
So if a person came in with a beast PC, a guy with a bad PC will have a disadvantage. |

@Chimmihc
"Streaming is hard to script with."
My point has nothing to do with scripting lol.
My point is that it does a good job of optimizing a game with many bricks with it.
I definitely don't consider myself a scripter - but I do know that local scripts and StreamingEnabled don't mesh well together. |

Oh and also,
This guy is making an FPS, so supposedly they want to make it very detailed.
But there is an issue with FPS since they require many local scripts to handle guns and tools.
FPS + StreamingEnabled = Bad idea
So in some ways you're right Chimmihc. If you mean scripting with StreamingEnabled on an FPS game - I'll give you that one :p |

You would never want streaming with FPS games(or any fast paced action game).
That is for 2 reasons.
1. As power said "So if a person came in with a beast PC, a guy with a bad PC will have a disadvantage."
2. You need to grab client input constantly. Differences between the client and server could mess a lot of things up.

There are the occasional people who have a "beast PC," - but StreamingEnabled also has to do with your network bandwidth as well.
Most people use wifi. If you don't use wifi - lucky you. But, like I said, *most* people.
What does this mean?
If you're running an i7 processor with terrible internet connection, you won't have much of an advantage against someone with a bad computer. ("Bad computer" - I'm referring to someone with an i3 processor and low grade graphics card.)
There are a lot of technicalities when it comes to StreamingEnabled - but seriously, a lot of *real* FPS games rely on ping and how good your computer is, so it's just something that is common in FPS games :l That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if people came up with more techniques to make bigger maps and use StreamingEnabled in FPS games. |

| That's the problem. We don't know what computers people have. That's why you should never use StreamingEnabled for these types of games. You should only use it in big roleplay worlds or something - else you're just giving players an unfair disadvantage. |
