I have the knowledge, time, and funds required to start a decent forum website with good security. What about a forum for ROBLOX scripting?
It could include programming-related features like code highlighting, as well as common bulletin board features like smileys, text formatting, and post quoting. The community would be centered towards friendliness and cooperation, and we could filter out all the trolls, which is a great replacement for this forum's lack of moderation.
It could include boards such as a general scripting discussion, help requests, and a place to collaborate or find other scripters for projects.
Would anyone be interested in this or would it be a waste of effort? |

| This is a great idea for ROBLOX's scripting forum is a mess containing various skill levels and various needs. There are some who are first learning to script others are masters. Some are seeking help others are sharing their work. Some organization would be nice. |

| @bluefrog53 that's totally my vision. I wish people would be nicer to those who want to learn, and different sections for those people would solve it. |

Sounds like a great idea. I'm down for joining your site if it becomes a reality :P

| @LeitrisArcade yay, this may work out as a good idea after all. ScriptingHelpers is really the closest thing to this, except it's not a forum site. We need better forum software. |

I thought there was roblox dev forum, is there not? Anyway, I'd be happy to help somewhat. |

| There's a dev forum, it's just extremely exclusive and non-public. You basically have to be famous to join it. |

Oo, although Scripting Helpers dot org has this, I hate the layout of the site, and how it's not really a forum but just a 'ask questions get them answered'.
Something like this forum, but with highlighting and editing would be amazing |

If you're going that far you should make a separate thing for individuals who have trouble learning from the scarce amount of sources we have at our hands. I've tried to find a stable place to learn to script never got any help. I'm still struggling to learn. If anyone has any good place or are willing to help me, contact me.

I guess I'll do it then. I'll post back here when I make progress after I go through the hassle of private domain registration and setting up a good web server.
For the software, I'm thinking of heavily tweaking a lightweight bulletin board like PunBB, which gives a nice basic look like these forums and lots of good features, but skips all the headache-inducing features and visual mess. |

| Great, I can't wait to see the final result. It's funny how Roblox says you make the game, which really means "We've made a labyrinth of a coding system now try to find your way out!" |

| @bluefrog53 I totally agree. There needs to be more ways to get started with Lua. Maybe if this gets going, I'll throw in a tutoring section, or some beginner friendly tutorials. |

| I liked LL, because you could always ask someone for help on the chat thing on the home page. |

lel, if you think this amount of documentation for learning rbx lua is bad, try blockland torque script. i have not found any updated tutorials/sources or anything
anyway, i can't wait for the end product! |

I'd join as long as it's not like this. I'm fine with a little bit of questions but honestly a forum where it's all discussion of scripting is freaking amazing. Just please don't make it exclusive.

| We should at least limit the actual scripting talk section, not stuff like the help section. Trolls and noobs and stuff |

It won't be exclusive :D
There'll be different sections for different topics, and just general discussion will definitely be one of them. |

| @rayk999 I don't plan on limits, but anyone who is visibly trolling or being off topic will have posts moved or deleted. I have a few bored friends who are good with web administration who would be more than happy to be active moderators. |

| I think that some really determined trolls will create fake accounts and then continue to post whatever vulgar content they have. Maybe have some some sort of reputation system (like SH). And you need like 1 reputation to access the discussion place |
