they are bad
i understand if you do it once a week like i do
but some groups do it EVERY TIME.
example:
"TRAINING AT THIS TIME 111 BE THERE!1! *FALLS OUT OF CHAIR*" |

been around for a long time, and still has to shout hours in advance. |

This is a logical way of getting people to turn up to events.
If anything, it shows how active a group really is. |

in 2013 JC shouted two weeks in advance for a war rally, and got 20 people
we shouted a few hours in advance and we got 50 people

Some groups have varied timezones and members may be busy when events are hosted, so by setting a set date for events, it means people can make time for events and obviously more people will attend events as a result.
There is nothing wrong with this philosophy.

OP, I sometimes give up to an hour's notice before my events. For small groups this really helps to ensure activity. There's little point postponing 5 trainings that were held randomly due to a lack of numbers. With a pre-warning I can be sure people will attend.
As the group gets more active they should start to stop doing that, as people would build a reliance on it.
