The last of the sun's magnificence shone down through the windows of your room. You cared little about it. The sun was going down, it would come back up. Not a problem at all. You could handle the end of a day, and the beginning of a new one. It just meant there was one more measly day, amongst the plethora of others. Not a problem at all.
You hear a knocking at your day. You could hear Reth's voice from across the door.
"Alexandria, the Regency has asked that you head to the dinner table for supper." |

I notice my lack of proper dress at this moment.
"One moment, Reth, allow me to get into my proper attire.."
She then walks over to the closet and gets dressed, takes her Crow out of its cage, puts it on its proper place on her shoulder, grabs her flower hat, puts it on, and walks downstairs to dinner.

The dinner table was full of pork, beef, berries, and many other delicious delicacies. It was a sprawling table of goodies. Sadly, the people at the table were not.
Reth always tested magical spells on his food. Iscaar always took too big a bite and ate with his mouth open. The Regency always argued over petty things. It was like this everyday.
A servant comes up to you, asks what you'd like to eat. |

"I'd like duck, please. No specifics; impress me."
She then sat there, waiting, contemplating how to make Iscaar chew his food properly.

(Sorry, complications came up and prevented me from accessing Roblox)
Time passed by, and your duck was served. As Iscaar was about to take a bite out of his chicken, a wing smacked his hand away.
"Reth..." Iscaar growled a bit, leaving the chronomancer giggling. A spell that animates things? You've heard of necromancy. You've never heard of this. |

Eh, must be that animism stuff that was mentioned in books. So, I resort to plainly stating, "Reth, teach me your animism."

I just sit there plainly, contemplating what magic that was. Must've been the 'animism' I've read about in my grimoires. I then very plainly state, "Reth, teach me your animism magic."

He blinks at you.
"Animism? That's a myth, you know! This is far from it. Animating the inanimate is impossible. This is like an enchantment, one where my magic moves it like a puppet under a set number of commands. For example, I could wish to say that if Iscaar's hand moves towards the chicken, the chicken smacks it," he coughs before continuing. "However, I'm sad to say it's a magic that will take you arduous years, perhaps two decades in the least, to learn. And that's if you devote all the hours of your days to studying it. I wouldn't recommend filling your head with such nonsense. You're a queen. Magic shouldn't even be necessary in the first place."
Iscaar looks over to Reth, "But it will become necessary should Tryal show up again. He was a mage."
"Even still, all she'd need is a knowledge of basic combat magics, like termancy and physomancy. Complex magics like the ones I not only study but invent and magics that are more about theory than actual casting, like my own profession of chronomancy, are not necessary."
Iscaar looked over to him, "You invented magics? I've never heard about this."
Reth simply replied, "I never told anyone about them until now."
"You seem to be so willing to share this fact today, though."
"Circumstances are different today." |

She smiles and relents a spell she recently read in her most powerful Grimoire, the "Doomdryte".
It absorbs all the knowledge currently passing through her victims', in this case Reth and Iscaar's, minds.
"Think about those nooks and crannies of your animation magic!" She orders Reth.

Instead of knowledge, you get an image of a cat staring at you, and laughing hysterically.
You see a blue eye, clearly a mental shield, on their heads, and Reth chuckles.
"Every mage must have their secrets, and I'd hardly let mine slip so easily. Of course, if you want Iscaar's, feel free."
You suddenly receive an image of various maps and old battles Iscaar had won as a general, as well as a pet pig he once had as a child. Reth was a powerful man, and one who liked his secrets well protected. |

She scowled at Reth.
"I can always recite the ritual from the Doomdryte! Sure, it might kill me, but if it works I'll be as powerful as a God!"
But she didn't expect them to take it seriously; to perform that ritual takes VERY much concentration, and an already existing supply of great, great vast power.
The reason for this is, it goes on for twelve pages in the Old Tongue, and if you get even ONE syllable wrong, one stutter, one waver, you're killed twice; there shall be no other life; you shall simply disintegrate into The Dark.
"Anyhow, what are you blabbering on about over there? Why would I need my vast supply of spells?"

Iscaar looks at you, "If Tryal makes a move, we're dead. I hate to say it, but it's true. Every last one of us at this table could so very easily be picked off... Or most, if Reth truly does have a secret. That's why we've taught you more offensive arts, even though your father had always preferred simple cantrips instead. It's also why there's that."
There was no need to discuss "that"'s name. It was so easily talked about with everyone but the ones who did know about it remaining completely oblivious about it's existence.

She slammed her fist on the table and mutter-yelled a spell in the Old Tongue.
Suddenly, all the food disappeared, the table clean, and several books fell straight onto the table. There was a black one titled "Doomdryte", a brown one with a golden-plated spin titled "Lesser Spells & Incantations", and a leather-bound green one titled "The History and Spells of the Kobalos" amongst others.
She picks up the one titled Doomdryte, and utters a spell that seems to go on for minutes to just open it. She then hands it to Reth.
"Reth, take as much knowledge as you can from the Doomdryte; it is the most powerful Grimoire in the world, and I've only read about a twentieth of it."
It was true; it was a gigantic book.
"Go on, read!"

He looks at it, and yawns.
"This spell takes too long to cast in order to be effective. It's designed for combat, but it's time requires a person to guard and protect you until it's done, and by the time you're halfway through the enemy has already caught on to your scheme and bypassed your guard and proceeds with your inevitable, bloody slaughter. Are we finished?" |

"No, no! You recite the spell on your own in a quiet place! The power will grow within you, innate, infinite power of the Dark Arts! But I need you to lend me your magic for concentration."

"I'm sorry, but there is the Theory of Repetitive Events. Advanced level chronomancy tells us that the present, otherwise known as the Prison of Time, is a habitual force. Several events have repeated at an average interval, the only factors being changed are name, place, and miner differences in the society. Following that logic, the Old one failed long ago because of their Dark Arts. Why should I risk my neck playing with forces that should've died out long ago, let alone forces that killed off their creators, when I face the possibility of a similar fate?"
There he goes with his bloody chronomancy. He was a master of the magic, but there were very few spells that were a part of the school. It was all complex laws and theory about time, the present, the future, the past, and the effect or correlation between time and magic. It got annoying occasionally. |

(Alright, I allow a certain level of control and imagination over the background of the world, and maybe a few irrelevant characters, but beyond that is a big no-no. There was no cause to suddenly shout out Tryal was there. Please do a repost.) |

(Him does not necessarily mean Tryal.
It could be the mailman delivering a new Grimoire.
Assuming is a terrible thing, as it makes an @$$ out of u and me.)
She immediately rushes down and orders the gate open, and then goes through the door, and then the other door, both built finely out of mahogany. She then looks down at another leather-bound book, titled "Lukrasta". She picks it up and runs back.
"MADE MY DAY! I SWEAR TO GOD!"
"I'm going to my room, you can continue to eat."
The food then comes back, and she zooooms away.

But I wonder what the tremors were..."

(Oh, sorry.)
As you read the grimoire, the window opened suddenly and a heavy wind disturbed your reading. The cold night air almost killed off your torches, and the room was suddenly much darker. Should probably close that window before things got pitch-black. |

I utter another two spells, and the window closes, and the candles relight.
The candles are made out of black wax which was manufactured out of blood, corpses, and regular wax that was enchanted at a special magic-conducive time of the year known as a Sabbath (a "Witch Feast"), and then crafted into a candle, making a highly magic-conducive candle.
I continue reading the new Grimoire.
