We're testing instruments and seeing what sounds we like and what kind of stuff we want to include in the song writing process. Should be very fun, even though we don't own half of the instruments we plan on using (like a banjo, which will actually be in my hands within the next month thankfully).
So what we're testing are the musical saws, the bottle guitar, some bowed bass acoustic guitars and bowed regular acoustic guitars as well as keyboard and anything else we can find that would make a good percussive sound.
So we aren't really a band yet... We just plan on starting a band once we figure out what kind of instruments we will use. Either way, we've got the materials besides maybe a few new guitars, new saws, and a banjo...
We've also got three brass players that could potentially play the horn music in the band, one of which is me. I probably will be one of the front men of the band though if we go through with this, as well as my buddy who plays saxophone. However, we'll be on guitar and saws most likely back and forth and stuff meanwhile the horn players will do brass music and/or the percussion.
Or we might just find a percussionist to drum for us.
It's going to be a long haul over this summer to try to get this whole thing organized and to actually sit down and right some music. Hahaha
But yeah... I'm still super excited!!! |

I will be sure to do so!!!
Also, when I get my banjo, the first song I'm going to learn to strum will be Aeroplane Over the Sea just because it has incredibly easy chords, but it's still a great song.
So expect a cover of that song to probably be the first thing I post to youtube. |

I don't really listen to imagine dragons but maybe at some point they'll spark my interests. They're just too poppy for me though.
Also, despite that most people say my voice is deep on voice chat, I have a very high register voice in singing so it probably won't necessarily be what a lot of you are used to... Haha |

I'm trying to get some of my friends together to create a small orchestral ensemble.
Only problem is, I think I'm the only one really interested in doing it...
Kinda related to what you're doing...
Also, F/E*b horn >>>>>>>>>>> |

| What do you play Saus? You should get into jazz music if that's what you're looking for. You can surely find some people to play jazz with you in a small group. |

And also by horn I mean trumpet/trombone/french horn. Not just one of them. Horns are expensive though so it might end up with us just buying really cheap instruments or just using what we have.
We already have several trumpets, a mellophone, and a trombone in our arsenal among the people that might be involved so we're pretty well off. It'd be better to have french horn than mello, but mello works just as well. Its sound just spreads a ton which could be a problem. |

I've never really tried playing any of the lower brass instruments. I could maybe pull off tuba or euphonium, but trombone is too confusing to me, with the exact positions and stuff...
I've messed around with playing my friends alto sax a little bit, and I think if I took the time to sit down and practice that, I could maybe get the hang of it, but that would require me having a saxophone to practice with, and I'm not dishing out the money to buy a saxophone when I don't even own a decent horn yet. |

I tend to stick with trombone and baritone. I sometimes do tuba.
I can somewhat play a piccolo flute.

I've kind of come to the realization lately that any instrument is easily to learn as long as it doesn't involve blowing air out of your face.
Strumming and hitting things is INCREDIBLY easy to learn and get decent at in a fairly quick fashion.
So there's that. |

"trombone is too confusing to me, with the exact positions and stuff..."
It's actually really simple once you get the basic idea of it. There's no "exact position" You can adjust your pitch by using the slide.

"I could maybe pull off tuba or euphonium"
I couldn't help but add this in. I'm going to assume you already know the proper fingerings for each note on the Euphonium.
-1st position = open on baritone -2nd = 2nd finger -3rd = 1st finger -4th = 1 and 2 -5th = 2 and 3 -6th = 1 and 3 -7th = 1, 2, and 3
Basically, any note you play on a trombone can easily be translated onto a euphonium baritone.
Let's say you wanted to play D. On trombone, a D is position 4. On Euphonium, a D is fingers 1 and 2. The same applies to the G note.
This basic chart I provided can be used to easily learn the two. If you can play one of them you can easily play the other.

I want to clarify that by "the two" I mean trombone and euphonium.

I've played trumpet for 7 years.
It's great that you are so confident in shifting instruments, what a talent to have! My dad's side of the family is very musical, every time we get together, someone ends up playing an instrument really well, it's awesome.
I miss high school, I had a scheduled Jazz band class, and a Senior band class in my timetable, and I think music had a big impact on my overall personality in the end. I should probably join some sort of music group, but I don't have the motivation to, lelel
