Please google "trickle down economics". I'm sure you will learn a lot.

'"Trickle-down economics", also referred to as "trickle-down theory", chiefly and originally in United States politics, is the idea that economic benefits provided to businesses and upper income levels, or money appropriated by government via taxation, will indirectly benefit poorer members of society when the resources inevitably "trickle down" to them.'

Crony Capitalism.

They're obviously successful if they can well, do all this:

The 89 people know how to run their business better than you. They've been doing it for a decade.

They can be the most popular thing in the world, that doesn't make them profitable. Have you wondered why Roblox has received such low amounts of money from venture capitalists compared to other, similar websites? It's because they don't know the first thing about economics, and they are trying to mimic an economy online.

You are using an appeal to the wrong authority fallacy, and it isn't working. You are claiming that because they have expertise in getting people to play, that they also have expertise in profitable systems.

Trickle down economy = more taxes for the government, or in this case, more money for Roblox, to make a comparison.

"that doesn't make them profitable"

They can basically give away $1 million to developers. In addition, they are helping us out by running the servers for our games (do you know how expensive that is). Otherwise, those games on the front page would only have 1 server. In addition there has to be at least 1 billion webpages on this site, and guess what that costs money as well. After all this they are still willing to give millions away to DevEx users.

"Have you wondered why Roblox has received such low amounts of money from venture capitalists compared to other, similar websites?"

No I've never wondered as ROBLOX gets more successful every day appearance-wise and doesn't show any signs of slowing. Please post a credible link if you'll argue any further here.

"It's because they don't know the first thing about economics"

If they didn't know anything about economics then this website would still be as small as it was in 2006.

"and they are trying to mimic an economy online."

If you are talking about the Trade Currency, then you can blame the users for using bots to make the rates terrible.

You mean the type of economics that's been sort of proven to not work in the real world?

Also, this is a SIMULATED economy. Not a real one. I'm also fairly sure that a bunch of college graduates know what they are doing with the roblox economy more than a 16 yo kid. You haven't even taken a barebones basic economics class yet.

However, what I will give s1 though is that yes, roblox is certainly not a corporate giant, but they are still growing(Probably could be growing faster if they had a more positive relation with the masses of paying customers and had a more viable customer service system).

But still, roblox is FAR from the only game that uses simulated economics within their game. Just about any MMO you see out there will have a simulated economy that works with things such as inflation, supply and demand, etc. It makes the game interesting.

What romulz said.

Here is a source: http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20110614005770/en/ROBLOX-Raises-4-Million-Venture#.VUmavpNik_M

4 million is nothing for a company with expenses like Roblox. Some startups that don't even have revenue are receiving more money, just for ideas -- that should say something.

I can almost guarantee none or VERY few of the Roblox employees have studied economics. What comes to my mind is computer science and who knows what else, but not economics.

I took a 1 trimester investing class taught by a 30 year experienced teacher who makes about 70% of his salary investing. You're right, I haven't taken economics, but I learned more than most adults know about stocks and options. That doesn't however mean that I can't self educate myself on economics. Claiming that you need to go to college to be a professional, or claiming that going to college makes you a professional is an ignorant and fallacious statement.

And to denounce the DevEx claim...

They don't "give" away money. The currency is essentially a closed system, with relatively small inflation (hedged by the ridiculous 30% market fee). So when you say they "give away millions" to developers, think about how many tens of millions regular players spent on BC or Robux to buy their products. How I see it, DevEx is a pathetic attempt to promote products, including paid access games, gamepasses, developer products, clothing, etc. They aren't rich, and a feature such as DevEx shows they need more money.

This would be very beneficial.

Also, wish you luck with your finances, Baltimore City will eventually yearn to rebuild, I'd invest into corporations looking to rebuild.

And as a final statement, growing doesn't make a company good. Fast growing does, and that is something Roblox lacks. It has taken, as previously stated, a decade to gain even EXTREMELY minor news coverage. Roblox is a speck of dust, even after about 10 years of existence. This is a direct result of massive failures on part of the administrators -- abusive penal system, rampant exploiting due to mediocre programming, awful economics, ignoring the customers, etc.

1 trimester doesn't make you an expert in economics(In fact that's not even enough to get an introductory understanding), sorry OP, but even I have more education than you there as I've taken a full year's worth of accounting classes and a full years worth of economics classes and plan to delve deeper into it through college courses and also do research on the side, and I can assure you, that trickle down economics does not work. The money does not find it's way back to the poor and the evidence is clear through our nonexistent middle class, and low wages even for some skilled jobs.

Also, no. Roblox admins would have to have a good understanding of economics to even be able to design a working simulated economy that this game has.

And while I agree with you that financial success does not make a good company(I could go into how I dislike roblox's business model but that's an entirely different debate in and of itself), none can deny that roblox IS growing financially that it IS a successful, profitable company. To deny that is just to be plain ignorant of statistical numbers, which you really cannot argue against unless you just want to look like a ditzy, know it all 16 year old, which is what you are being. Trust me man, no offense but you're not as all knowing as you seem to like to believe. You're freaking 16 for crying out loud, you're not done with high school yet, let alone any form of substantial higher education. I say this to every 16 year old know it all here that thinks they know better than the intelligent, obviously well educated roblox admins here.

And if you do want to actually prove yourself to know at least as much as them I suggest you design your own revised economy simulation for this site. I invite you to since you obviously believe you know more than experienced people with better education and more years under their belts.
