Bog can also be another name for toilet.
Synonyms are great but sometimes they can be very misleading. |

Marshes tend to have more, deeper water
Swamps tend to have more plants as compared to marshes
Bogs tend to have more dead stuff and smell worse and whatnot
Not so sure about fen, I haven't seen it used in this context all that much |

The eastern parts of Canada dip south, so there's actually several states of that description, Purr.
