i've always thought of nu metal as rap metal like pod and nonpoint (which are both awesome bands too)
but korn doesn't rap. i own most of their music, and i've only heard a song or 2 that actually raps
anywaysssss, korn's my fav band, so i should know this, but i don't lol

Nu-metal is a genre of metal that combines different forms of metal with hip-hop or rap influence. Rap-metal as a whole is based off of nu-metal but contains funk influence as well. Not to mention rap-metal contains solos which is something not common in nu-metal. KoRn is one of the first nu-metal bands. They are considered nu-metal because they follow the song structure. They use prolonged heavy riffs that contain a bouncy and energetic sound. This is especially present in "Twisted Transistor" and "Got The Life". Less we forget Jonathan Davis wears the adidas brand which is highly common among the hip-hop fan base. Nu-metal, as well, has a heavy side to it. Bands like Disturbed and Slipknot were apart of the "big 3" leaders of nu-metal next to Linkin Park. Slipknot shows the more diverse aspect of the genre taking influence from death and thrash metal instead of heavy metal used by bands like KoRn and Disturbed. P.O.D is nu-metal because they also follow the song structure of nu-metal. They just take influence from christian metal (which is basically nu and alternative metal) and rap. You should probably do some homework on nu-metal to better understand it. The Deftones and Metallica would be a safe bet because they are the biggest influence upon the genre. Also research the song structure as well. You should also pay attention to the band Of Mice & Men because they're doing some nu-metal work as well.

Christian metal is more of a classification rather than a genre. It basically consists of bands that are Christian and allow their music to be played on Christian stations. It can be a touchy subject depending on how you look at it.

KoRn is most-likely the only nu-metal band to not change their genre after it died. They come to my town every year for Welcome To Rockville. They did a great job last Saturday.
