Yes but it wasn't the only reason why it caused the Civil War.

Slavery was the issue that split the North and South. It is actually attributed to States Rights. Abraham Lincoln made it a war against Slavery after the battle of Antietam in Maryland.
The main reason Abraham Lincoln made the Emancipation Proclamation was to keep England or some other European power from supporting the South. It was also passed to help weaken the South. They used the Slaves to make things for the military.
The answer to your question is no. It was a war against slavery though.

| Slavery wasn't a leading factor of the way until about 1863 IIRC. |

1. Economic and social differences between North and South
2. More support of the abolition movement
3. Abe Lincoln elected
4. And of course, North wants end of slavery, South wants to keep slavery |

| Except the main cause of the civil war wasn't slavery, and ending slavery wasn't apart of Lincoln's agenda until later in the war. |

| It does make a point of painting a thorough illustration of the Civil War as a whole. |

..loorrrdddddd.
The North had slavery, they didn't care to abolish slavery.
The South had slavery, they didn't care to abolish slavery.
The South wanted states' rights to KEEP slaves, implying state's rights.
The North didn't care about abolishing slavery until later in the war.
Lincoln didn't want slavery to spread, but wasn't going to willingly cut off half the nation's economy. |
