A/B - Afterburner A/C - Aircraft ACM - Air Combat Maneuvers (Tactics) Airways - Flight paths (Similar to Sea Lands and Highways) (Designated with a Phonetic Letter and Squadron Number, should a MAC flight be on said airway) Alpha (A) - Attack (Additional letters/numbers may be added to designate a specific aircraft or flight. Alphabet - Phonetic Alphabet (These are easy to learn, but not necessary. In order to understand the meaning of an order or message with Phonetic words in it, simply take the first letter of the Phonetic word, and place it back in the message in place of the word) Altitude - Elevation Angels - Replaces the word altitude when giving orders to flights (I.e Foxtrot One Elevator Angels Three Zero; Foxtrot One ascend/descend to 30,000 studs) Bag - To down an enemy aircraft Bandit - An aircraft positively ID'd as hostile BarCAP/CAP - A Combat Air Patrol/Barrier Combat Air Patrol that is placed in between friendly units and a threat Basic Engine - Engine without afterburner Bearing - The Direction an object is heading Bogey - An Unidentified Flying Object (Not to be confused with the Extraterrestrial UFO) Brief - Flight briefing Bug out - Leave a formation/dog fight to ensure ones safety Cockpit - The Canopy the pilot resides in Debrief - After mission/flight report on what occured (Nothing happened until it's been reported) Down - An aircraft which is long capable of sustaining flight Feet dry - Flying over land Feet wet - Flying over water Flight - 3 - 6 Aircraft Flight Lead - Senior Aviator responsible for leading a flight/mission Holding Pattern - A maintained flight path that will allow a pilot to remain over a general area. IFF - Identification Friend or Foe NOIN Flight - No Information Flight (A mission without any intel for the pilots) Ops - Operation Out - End of radio transmission Preflight - Preflight inspection of aircraft and pilots to ensure everyone is ready Punch - To "Punch out" or Eject QUIFLI - Quick Flight (Quick deployment of flights to combat hostile forces or support friendly units) Roger - To acknowledge a statement or order. Sortie - A single flight of aircraft Squadron - 1 - 2 Flights, Ground and Flight personnel Strike - A coordinated attack by multiple aircraft Tarmac - Aircraft parking area Wingman - A pilots partner (Not including Co-pilots) |

Gate/Hangar - Aircraft parking Area Tarmac - The paved portion of the airfield where aircraft are allowed to taxi, takeoff, etc. |
