Kindergarten - Fifth grade (Elementary School) - Basic Arithmetic, writing, and reading
Sixth grade to eight grade - Advanced math, writing, and reading. Introduce the kids to different jobs in 7th and 8th grade
High School - Make it a trade school. Kids can learn to work with computers, such as investing, programming, etc., or they can learn craft, such as plumbing, electrician, etc. Other courses would be offered. Math, writing, and reading would be mixed in with job courses
College & Beyond - For those who want a higher education in the field they are studying |

"This is pretty much how it already is..." Do you live in America. Cause I know Britain has school systems like this but most of America doesn't. |

@Plexahedron
I live in Florida, and while there are not quite as many trade options as in OP's vision, my school offers quite a bit in the way of career training.

I'm in America, and my schools are like this. Considering my career choice isn't at the high school, I took the three classes that are any where close to my field, and now I'm completely wasting my time there.
Meanwhile, 90% of the kids at my school don't know basic English. |

Um, history and culture? Different languages? 5ex education?
And what about people who aren't sure about what to do yet? I mean, some people don't even know what to major in until the middle of college. |

"simply be glad you live in a first world country"
should we do nothing to improve the system in place, simply because we live in a relatively wealthy region? |

Unfortunately, like most things in America, we operate based on capitalistic beliefs and socio-economics override the demands of people. If you are not wealthy, nor is your school, then that's tough luck. :|
I do highly agree with OP's POV. |

All would be mixed in
@holly Oh gee, another one of those apologists who thinks it's cool to insult people as a comeback
the only "[insert that word here]" is you At least I'm not some sad SJW sitting on a computer calling people names as a "comeback"
@ana It's not the economies fault Politicians keep the populace dumb for votes

| i think history is something complex enough that it needs its own course to be properly understood, along with related courses such as government and law |
