| Hi, I'm making a game, I'm pretty new to scripting and building, so are there any tips on building a lobby? I want players to come into the game and make them think it is a great game just by the start, it is a FPS-like game, and is round based. |

| So when developing a lobby you want something that holds attention while they're waiting. Loads of people add a ball to push around or that game where the floor disperses... try adding things like this so that players have something to do while waiting. Also try to make it look nice; no one wants a boring looking lobby add art and such. |

Use shapes that match your target audience. If you are doing a techno war game, use lots of triangles. For a child's game use rounded edges. Unrotated rectangles on Roblox scream "incompetent builder" to players. Try to have a distinctive building style in your game, and carry that through to your lobby.
A lobby should address all issues players may wonder about while waiting for the next round. This includes strategy for the next round, items and enhancements / customization, friends and social desires, entertainment, rest and relaxation, viewing the current game progress, and possibly more depending on your game.
You want, in general, to decide on a feeling you want players to have in it. In Deception Infection (an old and once very popular game), the walls were partially transparent, giving you the feeling of being free in heaven or something after dieing. Many games have dark rooms with a single item lighted up in the middle that has something to do with the game. These are generally very open, and give the player a sense of grandeur and mystery. Pick a feeling that goes well with your game, and play the mind game with yourself, discussion features you want and how they will influence player's feelings. |
