@robust I'm not the best scripter, but I think this would be a good start for a project. (and by not the best, i mean very, very, low level, but i can do things)

not sure who the last boss would be... i would be interested in making it kingdom hearts themed, because that's where a lot of the inspiration for this game comes from:

@sector i find that the bosses are easier than normal zombies, which is insanely disappointing.
on top of that, there's never been a really fluent hack and slash game for roblox. there have been good ones, but none as smooth as a proper game. |

I wouldn't be averse to a team, but yeah, I'm not sure how well it'd work. I mean, meelo's law and all. It'd have to be well organized to make it work, and I'm not very good at managing that (I also tend to try and make things too interconnected and easy to update =S).
Not sure how well a hack and slash game on Roblox would work though. Animations are my weak point, and trying to create decent hit boxes would be difficult.
Although with the new Roblox particle system coming out sometime soon, a lot of those Kingdom Hearts hitting effects would be fairly easy to make, and it'd look really cool. |

definitely. i'm not a great team player. i've briefly done animation before, while using Unity, but due to glitches, i gave up. i'm sure i could learn it, if i really wanted to make the project happen.
hack and slash: yeah. it would be very interesting to see a smoother sword system, though.
hit boxes-- errrrghhh.. not much to say about that
building: fairly good at it, when i have the time. now's a good time for free time, so i'd better start working on the tower now if this project is going to happen (might not anyways)
do you want to try making it for a little while, and see if it works out? up to you, and i might take a shot at it even if you don't want to. a more talented scripter would help a lot, though.
also-- new particle effects? is there something i could look up to find this? sounds amazing.

The new particle effects (among other features) were announced at the ROBLOX Developers Conference West (RDC West). You can see some of the API on the wiki right now actually.

But yeah, I could try working on sword slash animations, but it's simply not my strong point. Trying to add combos (multiple animations in a row) would also make things pretty difficult, and I'm not even sure how multiple players would work even with a targeting system. Maybe if there were classes, but that just puts even more work on animations.
But I might be over thinking this like always. It's why I prefer making ranged stuff. There is less focus on good animations, and it's more difficult to over think the battle system.
Overall, I'd be okay with helping you on any scripting problems you have, or maybe even scripting stuff for the game. Just tell me what to do (or what advice you need) and I'll do it I guess? XD |

that would be fine... in fact, i think that would probably be the best way we could work together! sounds like a plan :)
this game would probably be single-player. i think there would be too much lag if there were multiple boss-fights at once. i don't think we would need classes, either-- probably with one character, and reskinned/remeshed weapons that had different stats.
what we'd need to do to make a smooth gameplay experience is what i think to be a core part of what makes Kingdom Hearts work: the combos. i could probably do animations for that, to split the work more. i do understand that it would be difficult to chain animations, but i really think that animations should be our last priority (catch: might take rewrites otherwise)
we'd need to up the jump height, and have the ability to chain attacks in the air (UTTER NIGHTMARE) and on the ground (also quite difficult) but if we get an engine going, the rest of the game can be much, much, smoother.

We could, but I'm sure OT doesn't really mind. Feel free to send a PM and we can talk from there though.
Also, changing the jump height shouldn't be too much of a problem. I've kind of done it already, without simply making the player float in mid air. It's a bit anime style right now, but it can be easily changed.
