Everyone past a certain age and maturity level thinks about this. It's through a process of self actualization that we finally realize those two things.
Basically, according to Maslow's hierarchy of needs you are at the top level of society and you are now thinking more than just about your needs but also about purpose. |

| No problem. I became heavily depressed about two years ago over this fact because I couldn't find purpose in my life. I went to a counselor and it was nice because I learned quite a bit about this whole concept. It really helped me get through a lot of rough spots in life. |

This probably seems very strange to you, as I'm unsure what religion you follow. But, the way I look at death is that either I move on to another life somewhere through reincarnation or spiritual heaven. Or, the cycle of the universe will just continue to run its course until all of the atoms that made up me reunite somewhere in a universe down the line to reawaken me. Or I'm just asleep forever, which sounds incredibly relaxing.
It's nothing to fear. And another thing is that the way technology is growing right now, me might see some sort of brain rejuvenation pill sometime in the next 50 years, and with other surgeries out bodies will probably be able to be completely repaired back to our youth. |

Yes of course~! I do at least, but to be honest. There is no purpose to life or to why we were given birth (Our parents banging of course, but in a deeper manner).
But.. doom and hope doesn't exist.. It is within our own mind. We give ourselves the power, the hope and the purpose to why we exist, you see? We are the ones who choose our purpose. It's all up to us as a human race living on this rock in space. |

I felt like death, for me, isn't scaring me. (If it was an accident or something, I'd be scared, but for natural causes, it isn't.) But if it were to be my family members, I don't think I have the motivation to progress any further and ditch my life. |

Well, I do wonder about the first one, but I know the answer.
We were born because our parents wanted us. |

| Not really. I think it's pretty miraculous that anything exists at all. It's incredible that we are even here. And by the looks of it, our technology might have us in the space age in the next one hundred years. |

My mom was putting a big ol turkey in the oven when my dad told her to stop and go to the hospital because he felt it was time for me to come out, out of her stomach. My mom didn't think so because she didn't feel pain (the sign of being ready to give birth) but my dad's intuition forced her to g0 to the hospital which saved my life by only a few minutes. The doctors said that If I arrived later then I would have died instantly because I came out purple and they had to put me in this incubater thingy where they put all the half-dying babies.
This story is Not really related but I just wanted share it because I still find it really scary. I could have died but my dad saved me back then from the lack of oxygen. 0_0 |

In all honesty I haven't lingered on those questions too much. But yeah, those are both really intriguing queries. Why do we live? What purpose are we to serve? I guess that purpose is really up to us. How we choose to live our life determines that purpose.
The fact that we simply exist is astonishing on its own, and I view it as a blessing. Many are conceived but never make it out of their mother's womb. Many are supposed to be given a chance at life but that chance gets destroyed in an instant. The people on this Earth right now, I like to think, are very lucky. To even experience what life has to offer, the different sensations and variety of things to see, even if it all comes to an ultimate end. |

@carss That seems like a really bleak purpose, but if it keeps you going then by all means continue doing so :) |

It's a lack of in security, and I'm not trying to sound rude by saying this. I'm trying to be honest with you and help find a solution. You are going threw a depression phase, and you don't like something about yourself.
Find out WHAT THAT IS! And fix it immediately, you do not want to be depressed, once you fix that insecurity you will gain a boost in confidence. A swagger if you will that you never new existed.
You haven't felt a thrill till you fight your demons, and take them on a ride.
