"without technology we couldn't support the world how it is now, don't you know that"
im not talking about like ways to farm using like tractors and stuff
like ways we interact through technology
if the forums were a hallway with a bunch of rooms, each room representing a thread, and in the room were a bunch of people who posted in the thread, i can tell you it would be helluva different. over the internet you dont have feelings for people. and this is true because you can't see them in person. it's just different.
ray bradbury was a great man with a mind of the future. he disliked the way technology was going and it led us to lots of curfews, censorship, and scripted lifestyles. the man wrote books with underlying messages on how technology is affecting society. and even though he was thinking too far into the future, if you look at the world today, it is what he said it would be. even though everyone read farenheit 451 that's past the age of 18.
boom

It is true it seems people in the first world are more depressed. I guess that if you're in a richer place you have other things to worry about than eating food and surviving. Not only that but it's different if you live in a rich place but have nothing. When you go from having lots to having nothing it's a lot more hurtful to you than never having anything in the first place.

One thing I don't like is that people say « But look in Africa! They have it so much worse than you! So you can't complain! » So then you're saying if someone out there has it worse than you, you can't complain. A starving African kid is dying of five diseases. Then would you tell him « Well that starving African kid is dying of six diseases! So you can't complain! » Is that what you would do? It's not logical at all.

i'm just saying that technology isn't making things happier. here's the connection money doesn't buy happiness you can use money to buy smartphones or computers and TV's and whatnot
if you watch a movie where someone dies it isn't the same as someone you know dying
it comes down to that

People in richer countries still die, and it probably would feel a bigger deal, because people in poor African countries might be more used to it then us, they would be desensitized after a while. That's pretty sad but still it's sad for people in both worlds.

Like consider that people in poorer countries are probably used to misfortunes. People in the United States or other richer countries are not as used to it.

Depression: a real mental illness. Sadness: the feeling of sorrow.
There's a big difference.
Has anyone really been as far as decided to use even go want to do look more like? |

I am going to say it again, not all of Africa is bad. Look at me, I live a very comfortable life. I go to school on the weekdays, spend most of my weekends playing rugby or water polo and during the summertime I spend most of my days at a sailing club that my dad belongs to competing in casual races. I'm living the life and others are too.
