1. they get stopped by paper
2. they are larger than beta particles
3. they have more electrons then beta |

iGCSE requires you to know
i'll hand it out:
-Alpha has more mass, therefore it is more likely to ionize with the colliding material -Alpha has a stronger charge, attract and other crap -Ionizing caused by large mass's usage of energy when moving |

alpha particles have only 2 neutrons and 2 protons
they only get electrons once they ionize with a material
you're thinking of beta |

| compared to others, where beta has a near-non existent mass (electrons), yet a negative charge (weaker than alpha), gamma has no mass or charge |

Let me go at it
Beta has less and travels more and ionises less due to its smaller size and lack of collision whereas alpha collides more thus ionises more causing less travel. Out of the Two Alpha is more dangerous if present in edible or drinkable items. |

charges of radioactive nuclei:
alpha - 2+ (2 protons) beta - 1- (or 1+ if positron - 1 nuclei) gamma - 0
therefore, alpha has the strongest charge and is more likely to electrostatically attract to the conventional neutral surface in comparison to gamma and beta |
