The NBSE game is a simulated stock market project with various levels of corporate economy. The basic gist of the game is that you are a stock broker on a stock exchange, and you're trying to accumulate as much cash as you possibly can. There are five industries you will be able to invest in and then eventually start a company in.
Agriculture Service Technology Energy Media
You will start the game out as a stockbroker and you'll be able to invest in companies on the NBSE. There are 5 main default companies that every server has. There is one for each industry that you can invest in:
Fedora Food Corporation Ticker: FFC Industry: Agriculture
New Block Taxi Bureau Ticker: TAX Industry: Service
Lua Laboratories Ticker: LUA Industry: Technology
Sparkletime Power Systems Ticker: SPS Industry: Energy
Workspace World News Ticker: WWN Industry: Media
All of these companies are relatively stable and won't ever face harsh drops or raises. They're supposed to simulate investing in mutual funds, which are more stable companies in real life.
---------------------------------------------------
However, once you have earned enough to continue moving up into the business world, you'll be able to buy your own company with the money you have earned on the market. This new company will then appear on your server's NBSE listing. Now let me explain how companies are listed.
Inside of the stock exchange, you'll find a board full of the active companies in the server. The first thing visible on the wall is a scrolling GUI that will display each company's ticker which is the abbreviated form of the company (examples above). On the scroller next to each ticker, the company's recent change will be posted, whether that is positive or negative and the total amount of change. This basically just shows how much investors have gained or lost in each company they are invested in.
There will be five other rooms that you can view more detailed information on each stock and where you'll also be able to buy stock from each company. Each of the five rooms represent an industry and only lists companies in it from the specific industry it represents. When you go to view the more detailed information, it'll display the full name of the company, its ticker, its industry, the current change, the worth of each stock, and the company's total net worth.
When you enter these rooms you'll be able to select a company and choose how many stocks you want to buy. You will only be able to buy integer values of stock to keep it simple and prevent messy calculations that could screw up on rounding. This simplifies the investing system a lot in this aspect.
Once you have bought stock you wait and see after each in game day (approximately 30 seconds) whether the stock has increased or decreased in value. If it increases, you might want to sell it. If it decreases, you might want to just wait for it to increase or sell it before its value gets to low.
The stock for the five default companies only change every 30 seconds, as I stated above. On the other hand, player owned companies change whenever the CEO of that company adds or removes money from its total fund which in turn changes the value that its stock is worth which leads us into our next point.
---------------------------------------------------
Now, time for a more in depth look as to how companies will work.
The five default companies I mentioned earlier will have a minimum and maximum that the stock value is allowed to drop below. This is like this because the change will be random, but small, making it possible for the stock to drop or raise to an unreasonable number by chance since the change is always a random value. Therefore it will have a range to make it so people do not lose or gain too much money off of default companies.
Once you purchase your own company you'll be able to choose a name and an image to represent it as its logo. You'll then be able to start spending on your company. The more money you put into your company the more each of its stocks are worth. However, you can take money out of your company if you'd like to spend it on in game benefits, which I'll get to later.
Every company will gain money at a constant rate. However, to increase the amount you earn per day, you must get more people to invest in your company. The more people in game that you have invested the more your income will increase. You can then choose what to do with the money. You, as the owner, can either take a lot of money out, or put a lot of money that you earned back into the company. So basically, you can crash the market for your company if you want, but that's not really a good decision.
One more note about owning a company is that you will be given a corporate office in the office building across from the NBSE. This can be upgraded later using leftover profits.
Also, if you leave the server while people are invested, they will be given back the original amount that they invested into your company. This is also the same for if the owner of the company decides to close their company. This way, the people invested won't lose money if people leave randomly.
---------------------------------------------------
Now that you have a company up and running, what can you do with the leftover money that you don't put back into your company? Well, there will always be in game benefits. One thing to note is that you never have to make your own company so you can always just stay as a broker or you can even close your company and go back to being a broker. You can still make a profit as just a broker, and sometimes it might even be more fun to play as a broker, but the profits are usually greater if you own your own company. But anyway, Here are just a few of the things you'll be able to do with the leftover money:
- Buy an apartment across the street from the NBSE and buy various furniture items to decorate it. - Buy items that you can decorate your company's office with. - Buy food gears and other items to make your time more enjoyable. - Buy a simple car to get to and from the NBSE. - Promote your company by running ads outside the NBSE on billboards. - And much, much more...
There will also be purchasable game passes for the game that will allow you to exchange Robux for in game currency if you feel so inclined to pay to win the game, however, there will be a maximum to how much you can buy to prevent extremely rich people from destroying a server's market.
One more thing to add is that all purchases made and all currency and companies you own will all be saved to your character so that the next server you enter will load your same exact stats, only resetting your amount of investors back to zero. This allows for server hopping to find better stock deals meanwhile not making you lose all of your money.
---------------------------------------------------
So I think that's about all I have to say about this idea. I would appreciate feedback below if you actually managed to read all of what I posted above. Also, this is a very prematurely written game idea, so I'm sure more ideas will develop as I continue to make the game.
Thanks for reading and also, join Tea Team, a development group I made that will be responsible for this game.

| I really have no clue how to make a game cross server and having several hundred thousand stocks on the same market might make the game a little messy. And I also want people to be able to leave and go to a new server to search for better prices. |

| This is genius, and it's funny I had the same idea earlier this year but I don't posses the skills to do it. I hope you great luck with the project, and I'll be happy to watch the progress you make with it :) |

Thank you for your honest opinion. Posts like that motivate me to go through with the project.
The plan is to announce the official release date by June 1st. I'm approximating that a working beta will be released in July. |

"Will be out by June 1st"
Don't get me started on how many projects just don't make it out on the day they were scheduled to do so...
(Hint hint GZWII...cmon guys, we met and agreed on December 6th! It's months later and there's still no working game!) |

@snow
I also thought worldbound seemed cooler but it won't get me the visits I want. I feel like this game will be more fun for the general public.
Worldbound also was more of a dream rather than a feasible project. |

Would love to play a game like this. There was one that I used to play where you could own your own business, and become mayor and I loved it. Willing to help if you need any :) |

| This is, in fact, a still active project. I stated somewhere in another thread that this is a summer time project meaning production won't start until two Monday's from now when I start summer break. However, production will probably go fairly quickly and I expect to have a playable game by the beginning of July and the full game with only minor updates later by the beginning of August. |
