Metricals was the only person thus far who understood this.
It's amazing to see how many incorrect answers there were, when the answer was in the question itself. The purpose of our existence is so blatantly obvious that it can be astounding sometimes to see how many people do not understand.
The purpose of war clans, is of course, to make war.
That is what we have done for years, and that is the only reason we exist here. If you took war away from us, what would we be? A bunch of little children running around, screaming at one another, claiming other clans are better screamers than the others!
At least one person understands. I wonder, how many more understand as well?

| You're trying to apply philosophical meaning to a group feature on a game site. Let's think about that for a second. |

Stop trying to act like you're a god and know everything.
War clans aren't for war. It's for power, having fun, improving on your skills and many more. Don't be such a tryhard.
You're the one who doesn't understand this. There are different opinions for this answer, yet you think there is only one answer.

I have never proclaimed myself a god, as I am obviously human. If that is what you think, then you are the one who is delusional, not I.
And as for your statement that war clans aren't for war, well, I figured I'd save myself your ignorance and stopped reading.

I posted this on your other thread:
But you need soldiers to command in order to declare war leading a war clan with the clan you own, which results in having fun.
So basically everyone answered your question, Virgil. |

war is a means to an end. The end is a larger ego. It's a power thing. Please stop trying to be a philosopher when it can be explained by basic psychology. |

War is not always a means to an end. A man may kill his neighbor for a multitude of reasons, but perhaps one day he wakes up and thinks "Perhaps I shall end him", and does!

No. That's the crux of the argument, and you're dismissing it offhand. |

A "war clan" is a clan that partakes in war, but one must ask why the clan partakes in war to begin with. The short answer is, of course, that players enjoy combat, so war is a means to the enjoyment of a clan's members.
You have asked for the true purpose of war clans, and this distillation seems to indicate that these clans are here for fun. |

The crux of what argument? This is not an argument. I have simply stated a fact, which you want to deny.
If you choose to be so delusional, I cannot stop you. That is, of course, your decision.

| @Virgil pretty sure MOST, if not SOME, murderers are thinking "Perhaps I will end him/her" before they kill someone. That comparison is really bad bc there is a massive difference between war on a game and KILLING someone. Also it is not relevant to war unless it's a military comparrison. |

War and murder are the same thing on a different scale. There is no such thing as a battle with no death, as there is no such thing as a murder without death. :)
