THE SPELLBOUND PROJECT: THE RACE FOR TOMORROW’S HERO
You've been hearing about the Spellbound Project TV show all your life, how every decade since 1975 this reality show with deadly consequences is hosted to find tomorrow’s new heroes. It’s the most watched show in all of the nation and it’s the topic of gossip all around the world.
And you were the age eligible to be tested for it. Though many contestants showed signs prior to the tests, most discovered their abilities from the mandatory test taken in high schools all across the states. Most of the population failed the examination every year, but precious handfuls would pass every year with flying colors.
You were one of them.
SPELLBOUND
The Spellbound Project’s contestants one average range from the ages of fourteen to twenty-one. There’s always outliers, of course---those who skipped grades, failed grades, or whose powers didn't fade by twenty-one. Though presumably none know why, all powers seem to naturally fade as the child ages into an adult.
Some find this liberating, others find the prospect terrifying. In any case, the gender ratio is surprisingly equal, and race seems to hardly affect the odds of developing an ability---which has been officially dubbed as a person’s ‘Spell’.
Spells vary in strength, one side of the spectrum as horrifically useless Spells, while the other has absolutely insane Spells. Those insane Spells are so rare that few have been documented in the history of the show. Luckily, there doesn't seem to be any this year.
As far as anyone knows, at least.
Spells are anything you could really think of, from teleportation, mind control, super strength, therianthropy, to black matter, plants, life, etc. The options are endless. However, users only have one spell. [Choose wisely.]
There’s one major con to having a Spell that completely throws all the others out. Though the powers fade away over time, many former users have freakish deaths at a young age, which is usually described as literally spontaneously combusting. The chance of having this happen to you increases with age, but it’s not uncommon to see current contestants just burning to death on screen during a level.
LEVELS
The Spellbound Project is divided into several levels over a course of a varying amount of time. The longest season of The Spellbound Project was in 1995, with an astonishing total of three years and thirty-six levels. Anyway, the average season/version of Spellbound Project has about twelve levels over the span of a year.
The levels aren't actually announced until just before, with the contestants receiving their instructions minutes before it actually begins. The show is live, to boost the intense and ‘real’ feeling the viewer gets whenever he/she watches.
Levels vary in what they involve, and it's impossible to just guess what one may be.
Prior to the first level, contestants endure a strenuous two week training program and a makeover. Sad but true, audiences tend to support the contestants with aesthetic beauty, not inner beauty. Contestants with this particular advantage tend to get bonuses or help that other contestants lack.
All contestants, for the entirety of the show’s season, remain in ‘The Dome’. The Dome is a gigantic 'ditto'-like battlefield that changes forms and shapes mysteriously. It must have cost a fortune, as it’s impossible to break through with magical abilities.
THE DOME’S TERRITORY
For the first level, contestants are placed inside a completely white canvas-like area. Their only instructions are to ‘find an ornate key within the shadows’. This section revolves entirely around the user’s ability, and you’ll have to be creative to figure out how to find one of these elusive keys with your abilities. This level of the show does not involve any combat, yet, but any tussle or quarrel is welcomed with open arms.
Otherwise, not much is known about the following levels or the dome’s true appearance.
RULES [These are rules you CANNOT break.] 1. No Godmodding, Mary Sues, Metagaming, etc.
2.Killing other characters without permission isn't a great idea, but if there is like three people with superior Spells cornering a less powerful contestant… Yeah, you can sort of see where that would go.
3. Spells can’t be too OP: no omnipresence, no overpowered manipulation, etc.
4. Respect one another out of RP.
5. Put “Snickers” in Other because I just ate one.
6. Even if it’s not in the rules, it doesn’t mean that I can’t call you out on it.
7. The Spellbound Project doesn't actually have any rules, only to achieve your goals or be eliminated.
8. Have fun?
CS
Name: Gender: Age: [14-21] Appearance: Bio: Personality: Spell: Other:
The RP commences just moments before the beginning of the first level, in an extravagant VIP room presumably nearby. The contestants would then feel a disturbance in the air and find themselves within the canvas.
[DIA’S NOTE: I can’t take it anymore, I've been staring aimlessly for several days for an RP that would interest me, so I took it upon myself to make my own. I’m a bit rusty, I haven’t role-played here in… months? Months. I hope this isn’t considered disappointing to you. Feel free to message me if you have any questions, or just post on the thread. My own ‘main’ characters will be posted soon, though I’ll need to control a diverse selection of characters that WON’T have their own sheet.]
[Once again, have fun!]

CS
Name: Dolores Brown Gender: Female Age: 16 Appearance: A rugged and brawny looking woman with visible and rampant acne, Dolores isn't considered the prettiest of faces. Her face seems to always be curled up into a gruesome thin snarl and her cloudy eyes threatens that she’s a force to be reckoned with. Her toast colored hair snakes around the nape of her neck, though not any farther. It’s a tangle of locks sprawling in all directions, even daring to block her right eye.
Her skin is a lighter beige and sparsely freckled, she’s a girl with much more muscle than fat, so her arms and legs are bony but solid. She’s below the common stature, but that doesn't get in the way of people’s first impressions of her.
She wears a low cut brown sweatshirt and a black tank underneath. Her khaki shorts are a boring tannish shade and reach just a few inches above her willowy knees. On her feet, she wears a pair of worn but clearly loved black combat boots. Bio: Dolores grew up in the slums of Michigan with her single mother and irrelevant siblings in an apartment complex in the outskirts of Detroit. She found herself, with ease, able to fluidly integrate with the community’s ‘ghetto’ adolescents. She was never a good student, but excelled at gym and other sports related activities. She was admired for her athletic prowess and quickly rose in ranking within her community.
Dolores figured that she really didn't have a future in anything besides sports, as she often described herself as stupid and not being the ‘type of person for school’. But when she found out about her abilities, how her amazing abilities at athletics and fighting weren't just from sheer hours of training, she found a new hope for herself.
If she got out of this alive and not injured, she would be given a chance that nobody else in her neighborhood could ever dream of; meaning.
Personality: Rough and cold hearted, Dolores spares no pity for the privileged and weak who need help. She’s also awfully hot headed, and has a mostly un-likable personality. However, when around her kindred spirits, she reveals a normally hidden softer side---though of much of her edge remains dormant until provoked.
Though she doesn't like admitting it, Dolores can be clueless to the more intellectual aspects of life, not comprehending verbal cues or hidden messages in words that others would understand more easily.
Spell: Super Strength!
Other: I ate another Snickers today.
CS
Name: Austin Garcia Gender: Male Age: 14 Appearance: Austin is tiny, with short height and average weight for his height, he’s always felt a bit insecure about it. He has a babyish but clear olive face, with brown wide eyes that have long, black eyelashes. His mouth is wide and red, with teeth that resemble vaguely a cat’s. His hair is a mess of curly black hair that ends up looking like a mop. When he smiles, his mouth seems to curl up in a mischievous way---but purely genuine, with no ill intent for anyone. His eyes light up and sparkle, and he truly looks beautiful when he does so.
Bio: Austin was always considered a loser compared to his jock peers, never really fitting in with those of his latino origin, but never really fitting with anyone else either. He found solace in drawing cartoons his bedroom, never venturing too far out of his safe zone.
Austin is very insecure about his physical appearance and financial status, he grew up in a well off town in the East Coast, one of the richest parts of the nation. He always felt like he was poorer than his peers, who lived in mansions or grand houses as he lived in a small townhouse with his mother, father, and numerous siblings.
He always had an interesting connection with cats, managing to understand them in a way that nobody else seemed to be able to. They were his only friends in his youth besides his younger siblings, and he cherished those memories of playing with them. As for his entry into the competition, he doubts that he will really survive.
Personality: Austin is timid and shy, from the very start he shakes with fear when thinking about the show. He’s always had stage fright, and he’s not very strong either. Though he hates to admit it, he has a low chance at winning.
As previously stated, Austin has numerous insecurities and he’s often afraid of talking to strangers, fearing that they’ll ridicule him as his peers did. He’ll often pause and stand awkwardly behind somebody for several moments until he gains the courage to say something.
Spell: The ability to turn into cats. And only cats.
Other: Snickerssss.

CS
Name: Boris Adair Gender: Male Age: 21 Appearance: Boris is a tall and burly young man, with well honed arms and meaty legs. He’s got an intimidating look about him, his face always in various irksome contortions. With dull gray eyes and a shaved head, along with several piercings and tattoos on him, he’s not a friendly looking guy. He’s got tanned skin and noticeable stubble along his mouth, and he gives an appearance of a city menace.
Bio: Boris grew up in Florida, with his mother, father, and four siblings. The eldest out of the bunch, Boris was a huge role model for his siblings and was considered a loving brother by his family---luckily, they didn’t know about his other side.
Boris joined the ranks of a gang when he was about sixteen, soon after news broke out about his abilities. Normally, all Spells remained a secret from everyone but the user and those of superior authority, but Boris’s abilities were haywire and destructive, and they were used for nefarious crimes that sent shivers down the spines of thousands of Americans across the nation.
Only a select few ever knew that it was him.
Personality: Sadistic and brash, Boris finds joy in the suffering of others. Nobody is certain as to why he’s really like this, as before he started his crimes he was considered a kind and humble boy.
He’s willing to shove, break, or kill anybody who gets in his way, and plans on becoming a de facto leader amongst the contestants, hoping to rule with fear like in his old gang.
Spell: Spontaneous combustion of surrounding objects or people. His abilities require a monumental source of energy, which has unknown consequences on Boris’s body. Other: Snickers are some of Boris’s favorite snacks.
CS
Name: Tiffany Clyde Gender: Female Age: 17 Appearance: Tiffany is a slender and pretty girl, with large dark blue eyes and an almost constant smile. You can almost always find her in a pair of high heels and never without a layer of lipstick and mascara.
Her hair is one of the most precious parts of her that she could never live without, silky and with flow, those blonde silky strands kissing the very upper portion of her back. Often times, she’ll have it in a bun or a pony tail, as long as she doesn’t lose her hair tie. She finds the care of her hair one of her most important duties, as is the upkeep of her near flawless complexion.
Bio: Tiffany grew up in a rich town in California with her father. Her parents were divorced when she was fourteen, and it’s said that she never was the same after. She became a beauty and singing personality after placing first in her high school talent show, and she became a national internet icon.
Prior to the Spellbound Project, Tiffany was signed with an agent and had several concerts and meet-and-greets around the states. She was known for her kind and fun loving personality, along with her fierce dedication to outer beauty and music.
Tiffany cracked just a bit as soon as she realized she’d be put into the Spellbound project, which was about a year or two ago. Though very few people would realize it at first, her realization would spark a scandal just a year prior to the show in which she attacked a fan viciously during a meet-and-greet in Oregon after the fan reportedly tried to get personal with the artist.
Since then, Tiffany had tried to clear up the scandal, but her fanbase was never really the same. Now being considered a pop icon and no longer a homely and sweet young woman, she would be repeatedly bashed by her critics for the previous event.
Personality: Tiffany attempts to maintain a sweet and perfectionistic demeanor, quickly brushing over her weak points whenever they’re brought up in conversation and hardly ever losing her cool. She doesn’t talk about life prior to her parents’ divorce, nor does she discuss the actual divorce in detail.
Spell: Her singing seems to heal her own wounds and lift people’s spirits, though she hasn’t actually managed to be able to heal anybody but herself yet. Other: She doesn’t think snickers are very healthy. |

Name: Sadine Gender: Female Age: 16 Appearance: She's a tall, fit, and strong young girl. She's a dark bronze. She wears a loose grey T-shirt, black sweatpants, and black sneakers. Her hair is naturally curly and cropped short, kinda like: http://www.short-haircut.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Short-trendy-curly-hairstyles.jpg. Sadine's face is relatively average, round, thick lips, cuts and scars everywhere. Actually most of her body is filled with scars, cuts, and healing bruises. Bio: tbr Personality: Sadine's brash, stubborn, and not patient at all. She tends to make decisions without much thought or care about the consequences. She's occasionally rebellious, and dislikes following orders; preferring to be independent. She's over confident and loves to fight, often getting into fights unnecessarily. Sadine also gets pissed off real easily, and swears a lot. She isn't an easy person to get along with, but Sadine will defend her rare friends to the death. Spell: Sadine has the power of metal manipulation. She also has the ability to turn any part of herself into metal, and change those parts into whatever; a sharp knife, a needle, a large pike. She can't make her metal parts larger than the mass of the original flesh of course, but it's still a little more resilient than skin and bone. Other: snickers

CS
Name: Beau Brennan
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Appearance: Beau isn't especially tall (about 5'6") or muscular in stature. His quasi-pale skin has little freckles or blemishes and his albino-red eyes have dark circles around them and bags under them. He has a closed-off nature in the way he carries himself and three piercings on each ear -- one on the lobe, two just above the auricle area. He usually wears a black skeleton shirt with 3/4 sleeves and a type of turtleneck collar that doubles as a partial face mask when pulled up with black skeleton gloves to match. He wears a red jacket that's about two sizes too big with the sleeves rolled up just past his shirt, distressed skinny jeans that tend to "pile up" at the ankle because of his long legs, and black/red sneakers. His hair is a bit curly, near-white, and a bit puffy.
Bio: Beau grew up pretty averagely. He had a twin sister named Belle, a mother, and a father. It was all fine and dandy until he figured out he could control bones, which was the start of everything going downhill. It first started with small jokes like making the turkey dance at thanksgiving (nobody found it funny but he and Belle) but it quickly escalated when he was about 13 and he accidentally snapped his sister's neck. His parents threw him out onto the street, calling him a "monster" and the like. For awhile, he believed them and didn't use his powers. He ended up on the streets for a couple of months and nearly starved to death. One day a wealthy looking woman gave him a scornful look and walked right on, and Beau didn't think twice before snapping her neck and stealing all of the money she had. It was then that he figured out that killing people was a great outlet for pent up emotions and an easy way to get money for food and shelter. The rest, as they say, is history.
Personality: bit of an arsehole, has a short fuse, brave to the point of rashness, a thrill seeker, little to no empathy or mercy, casual and laid-back demeanor (until he’s mad), a little sick in the head, notably bad at keeping plants. He still feels guilty for killing Belle.
Spell: Controlling bone tissue
Other: He'll occasionally treat himself to snickers.

(okay woo let's start) (the rp is always open for people because why not) (but yeah we can start)
Austin
Austin didn't want to be here, not one bit of him pined after the idea of glory or being a superhero that saved people. What once was a childish daydream was now a cruel reality.
"Let me out! I don't wanna be here!" He pushed against the bouncers baring the doors to the outside of the VIP room. He was the only one fighting against it from where he could see, everyone else caught up in their own inner anxiety or prayers.
The bouncers were firmly standing in place, not budging. Austin couldn't really control his feline abilities, nor could it really help it in this situation. He would repeaetedly cry out and slam against their bulky bodies, but to no avail.
Dolores
Dolores's face cringed angrily as she heard the annoying kid shrieks. Couldn't the guy keep it any quieter? It was hard enough having to leave everything the girl had ever known, but to be forced to stand near such a sad excuse of a human?
Whatever, she thought, it'll be over as soon as they give us our instructions.
Tiffany
Tiffany twiddled her thumbs excitedly. If everything would go right during this, she would emerge as a world famous star---and anyway, this would be super fun!
"So, what do you all have?" Tiffany smiled brightly as she directed her statement to everyone who wasn't freaking out like crazies.
Boris
Boris smiled at the sound of the little boy's screams. He would content himself knowing that his brothers weren't such punks or cowards. He stood up and crackled his knuckles.
"Straightening up adolescents." he nodded his head toward Tiffany with a menacing grin as he made slow strides to the young boy.

Beau
Beau was sitting down, feet propped over the arm rest of the chair he was in. He wasn't particularly excited about the situation, but he wasn't exactly struggling to get out of there like a certain kid. . . His eyes shot to the burly man walking toward the protesting boy and he considered stopping him for a split second, but decided against it. He looked back at the girl who spoke and shrugged with a small smile. "You'll see when we go into the dome." |

Sadine sat in one of the comfortable chairs while she waited for something to happen. Why must this take so long? What were they even doing? Why were they stalling? Might as well get this thing over with; for Sadine, it was just like any other day. She didn't fear death, and didn't even think of her dying a possibility. She was going to survive this. And she was going to make the best of it.
Sadine didn't plan to make friends with anyone here. She actually wanted to fight them. Especially that one burly dude cracking his knuckles; she wanted to fight him. She was going to blow up.
Sadine looked over at Tiffany with a blank stare. A seemingly innocent question to find out the other's powers before the games actually started, to find out their strengths and weaknesses. "Why does it matter to you?" she muttered irritably, crossing her arms as she leaned backwards. |

Tiffany
"I dunno, why can't we all just be friends? I mean, if somebody is gonna get killed off later---our chances of death would be severely decreased if we just teamed up together." Tiffany shrugged, then taking a glance at Alex. She wasn't really liking any of her peers already, and Alex was an immediate threat to the odds of her making some form of peace among the contestants.
"Mm, I'm gonna check out what's up with that kid." Tiffany stood up and brushed her legs, then took a few uneasy steps to Boris and Alex.
"Is everything okay over--" The sudden shock of an explosion had Tiffany jolting up and taking several steps back. A vase with a few ornate flowers nearby had spontaneously combusted and the flames were engulfing a corner of the room.
Dolores
Dolores cursed under her breath. Was this really happening? She hadn't ever seen a display of Spell usage besides her own, and it was surreal finally seeing the destructive potential.
Alex
Alex shrunk back, cringing from the wispy touch of the flames. He was right next to where it was exploded, and any closer would have probably ended him. He looked to |

Beau
Beau yelped at the sound and whipped around in his seat. The first person he made eye contact with was the boy, so he quickly stood up to make his way over there. Telling from the boy's reaction, it obviously wasn't him, so he assumed that it was the big man. "Hey, hey, don't make things explode just yet. Everything in here looks pretty expensive, so you might owe 'em." He had a hand in the air, ready to do anything if anybody made any sudden movements he didn't enjoy. |

Dolores
Dolores cracked her knuckles as she sauntered over, taking deep breathes.
"Am I seriously going to have to take off my earrings this early?" Dolores sighed as she looked menacingly at the scene before her. Who did it? Did Blondie do it? Weakling? Tough guy? Whoever did it, Dolores's heart burned for some action.
The large and boarish man smirked as he took a few steps away from the minor, giving the group jazz hands. Suddenly, one of the large flat screen monitors bled open with color.
"Good evening, contestants! Today begins our fourth annual Spellbound Project program! You were lucky enough to be chosen, and now we'll be relaying your instructions: Look for an ornate key within the shadows. Good luck!"
Before Dolores could even wonder what the word 'ornate' meant, she blacked out.
-----
Austin
Seemingly moments later, Austin awoke, surrounded by dozens upon dozens of his fellow contestants and in a world of presumable white. He shrunk into a fetal position and began screaming, praying for anything or anyone to take him out of this. He knew his chances, he'd seen the show.
He knew that he wouldn't last long.
Tiffany
Tiffany was laid photogenically down on the white ground, her head slightly tilting up to the eternal seeming sky. She let out a sigh of relief; the first level didn't seem too bad. Slowly, she raised herself up with all her might, and stood up.
"So... looking for a key, huh?" She shook her head, where in the world would she find a key here?
Dolores
Dolores was up in seconds, not wasting any moment. As far as she knew, the only solid ground appeared to just be that; the ground. She sighed, before she heard the muscular man speak up quickly after Tiffany.
"Alright, team. We need to find a key, or several." The man growled. Dolores angrily shook her head, who said he was leader?
She looked to Sadine, and based on the girl's bruises and cuts, she figured she was also one of the same thread. She walked up to her and narrowed her eyes.
"You. We should team up, since everyone else besides macho man looks like a hella wimp."

| She looked over at the Dolores girl. "Really," Sadine said, cocking an eyebrow and crossing her arms. Sadine felt an urge to fight her, too. She took a quick glance behind her, seeing nothing but white. There were no keys around here! This announcer dude must be messing with her. Sadine looked back to Dolores, and shrugged. She wasn't going to follow this large ass dude, so setting up an alliance that wasn't with the large ass dude sounded like a great idea. Just because she wanted to fight her doesn't mean Sadine was incapable of conversation. "Sure," she said stiffly, "You have any ideas?" |
