Chicken eggs from Trader Joe's.
they are due to hatch within the next day or so.
C:
I have 5 surviving eggs after thinning out the non-developing ones.
I saw 2-3 moving this morning. |

Hush hush, I have done this before.
They do sell eggs marked as "fertile" and in fact they are fertile.
Because last time I got 4 chicks out of about 8 I incubated.
Mind you though the chicks grow up to be really goofy acting chickens. |

The eggs are doing their little tell tale wobble dance, which is the chicks moving around inside of the egg.
WOO! |

"Why the hell would a grocery store sell fertile eggs?"
Something something the hens are free ranged and housed with roosters.
There is even a little disclaimer next to the egg shelves in the store.
Also some people may be on wacky diets that include fertile eggs. |

Its actually really easy to do, just get a small incubator (mine was about $40-$50), purchase the freshest eggs you can from Trader Joe's (preferably the ones in the carton labeled fertile), Set the temperature to 99.5 and keep the humidity up with a little cup of water, and turn them 3-4 times a day with clean hands!
Store bought eggs are a bit more delicate than fresh fertile eggs because the store ones have been power washed in chemicals and such. the washing removed the protective membrane from the outside of the egg and leaves the egg vulnerable to bacteria. Sanitize your hands or wear gloves while turning to prevent killing the egg.
Heh, I have done this a few times. |

No man, tons of eggs,
I barter them for stuff, like home made jerky and dried fruits/vegetables.

"and i want a chicken"
You need multiple, they're social creatures. Also they're really annoying and poop everywhere. |

"Touching story"
Why thank you. :D
Also they are not as messy as you think, I would recommend having at least 2 because yes they are social animals.
And they are kinda trainable, I have one little bantam hen that can play dead. |

UPDATE!!
Out of the 5 eggs that survived the culling of undeveloped/empty/dead eggs
I NOW HAVE
2 HUGE yellow baby chicks and 2 more eggs that have holes poked in them and the babies are soon to hatch!
I do not know about the 5th egg, I will give it a chance though because it had developed. |
