Introduction Earning Commendations Rank Requirements and Obligations Conclusion
Introduction Greetings Patridans! The following document contains everything you need to know when it comes to advancing within The Spiral Knights Brotherhood. This includes rank requirements, methods to earn commendations and the obligations of certain ranks. This document is designed to fully explain the promotional system used in SK.
Earning Commendations Earning commendations will largely remain the same. However, as the new requirements for ranks increase, so does the maximum amount of commendations that you can earn at events. The methods for acquiring Commendations are outlined below.
† Trainings: 8 Commendation Maximum Earning commendations at trainings is very simple; do your best and follow the trainer’s instructions. While at trainings, you automatically gain Commendations depending on how much time you spend at the event. For every 15 minutes you spend at a training, you now automatically earn one Commendation. In addition, performing well in combat, participating actively, and working well with your team can result in additional Commendations.
† Battle Practices: 7 Commendation Maximum Commendations are acquired during a Battle Practice the same in the same way as trainings. Battle Practices are generally more relaxed than trainings, and occur regularly. Like trainings, you also earn an automatic Commendation every 15 minutes.
† Raids: 10 Commendation Maximum Commendations are earned at raids based on the overall success, communication and your individual performance. There’s no way to measure time spent in the server, and thus your Commendations will be determined by the raid leader. It is critical that should you go to a raid, you stay for the full duration. Raids are most often held during wartime.
† Defenses: 8 Commendation Maximum Commendations are awarded in defenses for performance, success, and ability to follow orders. They function much the same as raids, but focus on defensive tactics rather than offensive ones.
† Social Interaction and Assistance Finally, you can earn Commendations for contributing to the general SK community. Posting on the wall, patrolling the fort, answering questions on the wall, etc. can earn you Commendations at the discretion of the Officers.
Rank Requirements and Obligations
† Squire Once you join The Spiral Knights Brotherhood you are at the rank of Conscript, to advance further in the group you should message any member ranked Paladin-Grand Prior that this is your entrance resume, and tell them the first Council (Officer) rank, the name of the continent SK protects, how many Commendations you need to become a Sergeant, and the name of the current Grand Prior. This entrance resume will result in the beginning of a career within SK!
† Companion-at-Arms - Badge Members at the rank of Companion-at-Arms are official members of The Spiral Knights Brotherhood. The duties of a Companion-at-Arms are simple: attend events, be well behaved, and obey orders.
† Sergeant - 10 Commendations Achieving the rank of Sergeant does not change one’s duties, though Sergeant are more strongly considered for leadership opportunities.
† Knight - 30 Commendations Knight, the next milestone, grants the start of the serious career in SK, in between the lower ranks and the Council.
† Knight Prime - 70 Commendations Knight Primes should start being more heavily involved with the SK community, as it is a rank designed as preparation for Knight Commander.
† Knight Commander - 150 Commendations Knight Commanders gain the option of multiple additional responsibilities. Knight Commanders, as the rank designed to prepare members for a Council rank, entitles one to admin commands at training facilities. This enables Knight Commanders to host events, such as Battle Practices, as long as they are under the supervision of a Council Member. Knight Commanders set an example to be followed. Keep that in mind!
Council Members will open Council Logs on a Knight Commander that is active in hosting trainings, assisting Officers, and involving themselves in the SK community. When a Knight Grand Cross opens council logs on a Knight Commander, the Knight Officers and High Officers are able to comment on their performance, and if the comments are deemed adequate they will be promoted.
† Paladin - 400 Commendations The Paladin rank functions much like a Knight Commander would, however it also works as a hybrid of Knight Officer. You have very limited powers as a Paladin, however you may shout for official events and add a small amount of prestige. Those in this rank are still able to gain Knight Officer through the same method Knight Commanders would.
† Knight Officer - Receive Positive Council Logs Knight Officers are therefore the first officer rank, and have group admin at training facilities. A Knight Officer's duties include hosting events (Trainings, Battle Practices, raids), and overseeing Knight Commanders who want to host. They are also expected to attend the meetings and contribute to general discussion.
† Knight High Officer - Hand-picked by Knight Grand Crosses from Knight Officer rank Knight High Officers are the second and final officer rank, and have a bit more work and responsibility than Knight Officers. Knight High Officers are selected by Knight Grand Crosses to assist them in their specific field. Knight High Officers perform both the duties of a Knight Officer as well as their department-specific work. Knight High Officers also gain the privilege of commenting on Council Logs.
† Knight Grand Cross - Hand-picked by Grand Prior and Grand Viceroy Knight Grand Crosses are the High Command, and personal council of the Grand Prior. Knight Grand Crosses are voted in by the existing Grand Prior and Viceroy and will usually hold a department-specific title. As the head of these departments, Knight Grand Crosses have a rather large workload, and are often exempt from normal duties such as hosting trainings and practices. As personal counsel to the Grand Admiral, Knight Grand Crosses are often involved in the important decision making processes that affect the whole group. Knight Grand Crosses also have the duty of selecting Knight High Officers to work with and to train.
† Grand Viceroy - Hand picked by the Grand Prior The rank of Grand Viceroy is not easily achieved, and is generally reserved for the Second in Command. The duties of a Grand Viceroy are similar to those of a Knight Grand Cross, but in a broader scope. These people are able to overrule the action of anyone below them, and act as the leaders in times the Grand Prior is absent. Their skill is grand, hence the name, and they function as the right hand of the Grand Prior.
† Grand Prior - Hand picked by the previous Grand Prior The leader of the group. Does leader stuff.
Conclusion This thread contains most everything needed to understand SK’s progression system. This is intended to be a reference, and should cover most questions. Should there be confusion, however, Knight Grand Crosses have their PMs enabled, and are happy to respond to any questions! |
