[ Night and Fog ]
With the revolution going on, the Fourth Reich on it's pathway up to power, what is there to hope for? With the mere thought of what the corrupt neo-vazi officials orchestrated actually getting that disturbed, nameless, leader they have into full power over the country is enough to make you sick.
Sadly, that's not it. The previous president, Karl H. Farmonton, had managed to start a mini-nuclear war in the process, with China, of all countries, which was the perfect opportunity for the officials to take down everything the country stood for since 1776. This war had ruined just about all major infrastructure in a short 40 days, where it ended, as Farmonton was beheaded on live television by a bunch of neo-fascist thugs.
That out of the way, mutant creatures now roam the remaining cities left in America, there's a new iron curtain in place, and the entire world for you, is basically just a cannonarchy.
-----
You sit in a dark room, your stomach churning from the disturbance in your sleep and complete lack of a breakfast. Based on what you see out of the window, you can tell it's about three in the morning, and there's a wonderful bit of rain, snow, night, and, of course, fog.
Across from you, on the small, round, table, are your car keys, a small backpack full of trail mix, water bottles, and an iron cross, for 'legal reasons'. In the same tiny kitchen you're in, sits a man in a gas mask, gray jumpsuit, and a cap. This man used to be a teacher in a middle school a mere five minutes away. He's just about to leave, in fact, as he has given you the clear sign, as you are not infected nor are you any 'lesser race' than him.
As he walks out, you figure that it's about time you gather up your buddies and leave town. Too bad you don't have any buddies.
-----
Because you've gathered all of your things, compass, fragmented map, everything, all you have to do is hop into your ancient UAZ jeep and stare at the map for a bit, then just not get shot while driving around in what used to be Pennsylvania.
The garage is just out the door. Feel free to say any of your final goodbyes to the good 'ol house before you set off to your nomadic lifestyle, in pursuit of rebellion. |

| I'd get up off my chair and walk to my bedroom, and examine my old childhood memories. I flipped through my old year books and smiled as I sat down on the bed and read through them. I'd then sigh and walk to the table, and zip my pack shut. I'd look at the house once more, and head out to the garage and get into my car and start the ignition. I'd look at my map and and decide first to head to the city boarders. |

The map is pretty old, but it still a reliable source. You heard that Monroeville isn't fully controlled yet, but is riddled with the mutating refugees, and you also heard that Washington City has now become a city state. Along with that, you remember that New York underwent a series of bombings and would make a great place to start fresh. You've also heard rumors that this quickly put together rebellion is undergoing some serious problem, very far inland, too, and that Ohio is one of the first to strike.
There's also a major industrial complex by Morgantown, and that they have made a military establishment in Winchester. You don't really know what's over by the other options, but it seems good enough for now. |

| I'd drive to the boarder, then thinking that I would head to Ohio and check out the Rebellion. |

You leave your garage, closing it behind you with your remote, white you toss out of the windows, letting it roll into a manhole. You take a right towards the highway, driving over a rotting corpse, which has purple-ish blood leaking out of it's torso. You pass by a herd of anarchists, which attempt to toss a molotov at your vehicle, but miss. You finally slow down, 20 minutes in, there's a large, three story motel by the side of the highway, next to a toll, which has been turned into a high-security checkpoint. To your right, you spot a blacked out sign, which you can only assume was what notified the passerby that they are leaving PA state.
As you close up on the checkpoint, you notice you're almost out of petrol, and that there are at least ten armed guards, in their gray, urban camouflage trench coats, red armbands, gas masks, and automatic carbines. You can see a hatchback, which has been stopped. There's a man who is kneeling over, talking to the guard, as another guard searches the vehicle. |

| Id sigh as Id pull over my car into an empty lot. Id turn off the ignition but I'd take my keys with me. Id look around to see if there's anything useful I can take with me, other than my bag. |

Just trees and bushes, mainly evergreen, but there's still a small population of oaks and whatnot.
You hear the crack of a .30 caliber gunshot near the checkpoint, then a bit of whisper-like chatting. |

| Id look at the checkpoint, examining the checkpoint. Id then sigh and head back to my car, turn on the engine, pull out of the lot and slowly drive to the checkpoint. |

You slowly inch over to the checkpoint in your vehicle, which will barely last you another few miles. As you pull up to the slot labeled "cash" you pass a bloody mess, where a black bag lies, being zipped up by the guards. One man, who isn't wearing a gas mask, walks over to your car. You notice he has a UMP-40 or UMP-45 slung over his neck, which is set to the "full" fire mode. He pulls out a small notebook, then starts,
"What is the purpose you have for leaving the state?" while flipping to the most recent page in the notebook, and pulling out an expensive looking-fountain pen. |
