The classier alternative to the common, yet inane, "deep lyrics threads" that pervade this sub-forum.
"Beep beep. Mmmm, beep beep. Yeah!" - The Beatles, 1965 "Give us money." - The Smiths, 1986 "Hello. Hello. Hello. How low?" - Nirvana, 1991 |

and I could sense you somewhere in the crowd and I knew that Barack would be proud because you could be in love with anyone but you're not in love with anyone
"you could be in love with anyone / but / you're in love with me" |

"I don't dream about anyone...except myself." The Smiths, 1984 "And when darknesss lifts and the room is bright; I'll still be by your side for you are all that matters and I'll love you to till the day I die." The Smiths, 1984
These quotes are the epitome of human sentimentalism. For one side, one represents the deep egoistical feelings we all feel in such a simple manner, but in a manner simple to explain and relate to.
Our other deep quote tells us about being extremely enamored with another person who isn't oneself. How humans are possible to feel emotions for people that aren't themselves. A unique event that is present in our humanistic specter of emotions and thoughts. O' how beautiful. |

"I was looking for a job and I found a job. But heaven knows I'm miserable now." - The Smiths, 1984
In this exquisite passage, the renowned poet Steven Patrick Morrissey discusses the human condition. Morrissey distills human experience to the actions of searching and finding. In this, he claims that work is the fulfillment of human existence. However, Morrissey is not content to live by the actions which others do. Rather, this idea of a fulfilled experience only makes Morrissey's narrator "miserable"! For Morrissey, it is not the success that breeds happiness, it is the search for success! Il faut imaginer Sisyphe heureux, indeed! |

I just looked up the lyrics just in case. Frankly, Mister Shankly does contain the lyrics exactly as I quoted them, so I do not see the problem. |

Are you going to provide us with song quotes to think about, or just complain about the ones provided? Also, the liner notes to my copy of The Queen is Dead leave out the last line of the song, so I cannot confirm or deny your statement. |

I pleased myself by reading this. This truly is not a thread for philistines, it's for the culturally enlightened. |

Awkrin
This thread is actually the same thing. Only difference is use pretentious grammar/phrasing and treat every quote, no matter how inane, as a piece of high art. If you want to call people philistines, go right ahead! Just provide song quotes for us to ponder. |

Here are some thoughts.
Well, screw lyrics, going to rebel. Stanza time.
"I wish I was cool,/I wish I was strong enough to release you/From the darkness of this/city that never sleeps/I wish I was tall,/I wish I was fast to reach your heart/But it’s cold as snow and hard as ice/And the time won’t let me try twice"- Choses Sauvages
